1.4 National Clean Air Programme
What’s in News?
News-1
• MoEFCC provides financial assistance to States/ UTs under National Ambient Air Quality
Programme (NAMP) for monitoring of ambient air quality in towns and cities.
• Presently 1340 Monitoring Stations have been set up for monitoring ambient air quality in 489
cities and towns of the country.
News-2
• 95 cities have improved air quality and 20 cities met the National Ambient Air Quality Standard in
FY 2021-22 under the Programme.
• 9-cities: Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Moradabad, Firozabad, Amravati, Dewas, Sunder Nagar
and Nalagarh received award under Swacchh Vayu Sarvekshan conducted for 2022-23.
• The National Apex Committee under NCAP was convened to review the implementation of NCAP
under the co-chairmanship of Union Minister and Minister of State of Environment, Forest and
Climate Change.

1.5 PM SVANidhi Scheme
What’s in News?
• 42.7 lakh loans amounting to ₹5,152.37 crore have been disbursed to 34.47 lakh street vendors
under PM SVANidhi scheme.
• 3.98 lakh loans (9.3%) provided to minority street vendors under PM SVANidhi scheme.

are implemented by States/Union Territories (UTs).
• Under PMAY-U, more than 1.20 crore houses have been sanctioned.

1.7 Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)
What’s in News?
• JJM achieves 60% coverage milestone as 60% of rural households have access to clean drinking
water through taps.
• 11.66 crore households & 58 crore people now have access to clean drinking water through taps
at home.
• One tap connection provided every second under JJM in 2023
• 1.55 lakh villages, (25% of total number of villages), in India have reported ‘Har Ghar Jal’, i.e., every
household has access to clean drinking water through taps at their household premises.
• 5 states: Gujarat, Telangana, Goa, Haryana, and Punjab and 3 Union Territories of Andaman &
Nicobar Islands, Daman Diu & Dadra Nagar Haveli and Puducherry have reported 100% coverage.
• Tap water supply provided in 9.03 lakh (88.26%) schools and 9.36 lakh (83.71%) anganwadi
centres.
• At the time of launch of JJM, there were 14,020 Arsenic and 7,996 Fluoride affected reported
habitations in the country, which have been reduced to 612 and 431 respectively.
• A special ‘Swachh Jal se Suraksha’ campaign was launched by the Mission from 2nd October,
2022 to 31st March, 2023 to ensure quality of drinking water.
• More than 5.24 lakh Paani Samitis/ Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC) have been
formed and over 5.12 lakh Village Action Plan have been prepared.
• Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation have formalized a Rural Wash Partners’ Forum (RWPF),
where development partners along with sector partners involved in WASH sector work in a
collaborative manner for effective implementation of JJM.
• “Source sustainability for Drinking Water” (JSA-2023-SSDW) has been kept as the central theme
of Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2023.

1.8 Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Drones and Drone
Components

• Ministry of Civil Aviation has disbursed an amount of Rs. 30 crores (approximately) to the
beneficiaries during FY 2022-23 under the scheme.
• A provisional list of 23 PLI beneficiaries was released which include 12 drone manufacturers and
11 drone component manufacturers.

What’s in News?

• Government has finalised 7 sites viz. Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat
(Navsari), Karnataka (Kalburgi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow/Hardoi) and
Maharashtra (Amrawati) for setting up PM MITRA Parks.
• India is the 5th largest producer of technical textiles in the whole world with a market size of
nearly $22 billion, with hope to build up to $300 billion by 2047.

2023-24.

• There is also an addition of 5 crore new accounts under the scheme.
• Total number of beneficiaries reached 48.65 crore by the end of the last fiscal compared to
45 crore in the previous financial year. The women beneficiaries were over 27 crore.
• As per RBI data, about 8% of PMJDY accounts have zero balance while the average balance
is upwards of ₹2,400.
