GENERAL PHYSICS 2
PERFORMANCE TASK #2.2: SERIES AND PARALLEL CIRCUIT
GENERAL DIRECTIONS:
1. Read carefully and follow the procedure provided.
2. Do the activity on a clean sheet of paper or the prepared ANSWER SHEET provided in
the activity. (could be a bond paper, pad paper or better yet, a graphing paper, any
paper available).
NOTE: Answer sheet can be printed out but the answer should be in
handwritten.
3. Write all answers and necessary solutions and box your final answers.
4. Take a clear picture/s of your output and compile them into ONE (1) PDF, then submit
thru Brightspace.
5. Only ONE (1) file submission is allowed, under file name: 4thQ-PT2.2-Surname1,
Surname2
6. Not following instructions (from the general directions) will have corresponding demerit
of 2 points for each violation even if it is not included in the rubrics provided for the
activity.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Students will be able to identify the proper symbol of the given electric components.
2. Students will be able to simulate the given circuit in the CIRCUIT CONSTRUCTION KIT:
DC.
3. Students will be able to differentiate a series circuit from parallel circuit.
4. Students will be able to operationally define current, voltage and resistance of a series
and parallel circuit.
1. Make a pictorial circuit diagram given a schematic circuit diagram of a series circuit with
three resistors R1, R2, and R3 which have 100 Ω, 200 Ω and 300 Ω respectively. (1 point)
Formula: 𝑅𝑇 = 𝑅1 + 𝑅2 + 𝑅3
𝑅𝑇 = 100 Ω + 200 Ω + 300 Ω
𝐑𝐓 = 𝟔𝟎𝟎 Ω
50 𝑉
𝐼𝑇 =
600 Ω
𝐈𝐓 = 𝟎. 𝟎𝟖 𝐀
GUIDE QUESTION:
1. What can you say to the flow of charges in the series circuit? (1 point)
2. What did observe to the current along each resistor to the total current of the circuit? (1 point)
3. What can you say on the total voltage to the electric potential difference across the battery?
(1 point)
- The total voltage is equal to the sum of the potential difference across the battery.
5. What did you observe to the voltage along each resistor to the total voltage of the circuit? (1
point)
- The voltage along with each resistor increases as the value of the resistor increases.

GUIDE QUESTION:
1. What can you say to the flow of charges in the parallel circuit? (1 point)
- I've noticed that charges in a parallel circuit do not flow in a single direction. Charges
are moving in many directions and are all available at the same time. However, it is not
moving at the same speed as charges near the battery. In comparison to the charges
flowing via the main wires connected to the resistors. It is moving quickly.
2. How do you solve for the total resistance for a parallel circuit? (1 point)
- First, I replace all of the specified values in the formula. Second, I looked for the 600m
Least Common Multiple in each denominator. Then I divided the LCM by each
denominator to find the numerator. After that, I integrated all the similar phrases and
finished the problem. I divided and reciprocated it.
- The sum of the current of each resistor is 0.9 ampere or 1 ampere after being rounded
off.
4. What did observe to the current along each resistor to the total current of the circuit? (1 point)
- I've noticed that the current flowing through each resistor differs from the circuit's total.
When the currents of all the resistors are combined together, the total current of the
circuit is calculated.
5. What did you observe to the voltage along each resistor to the total voltage of the circuit? (1
point)
- I've noticed that the voltage across each resistor in the whole circuit is the same.
CONCLUSION: (2 points)
What is the difference between series circuit to parallel circuit?
- In a series circuit, the current flow is equal. While in a parallel circuit, the total current is
equal to the summation of all the current. The voltage for the series circuit is 𝑉𝑇 = 𝑉1 + 𝑉2 +
𝑉3 … While the voltage for the parallel circuit is the same, 𝑉𝑇 = 𝑉1 = 𝑉2 = 𝑉3 …
