Job Opening: POLITICAL Advisor at the Royal

Danish Embassy in Bogota, Colombia


Do you have an academic background and good communication, planning and
research skills? Are you able to work in English as well as in Spanish? Do you have
experience or an interest in engaging with Colombian political institutions? Then you
might be the candidate we are looking for.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, is looking for a new political
advisor to join our political section. We are a busy Embassy with 21 employees
working with several areas but with a particular focus on the green agenda. The
political section serves as a close advisory unit to the Ambassador and a
communication channel with the technical cooperation and commercial teams at the
Danish Embassy in Bogota. The Embassy in Bogotá manages the Danish
engagement in Colombia and four other countries in Latin America (Bolivia, Costa
Rica, Panama, and Venezuela). As part of the political section, you will primarily
work focusing on Danish and Colombian relations, but also assist on tasks
concerning the four other countries.

Responsibilities:

As an advisor in the political section, you are expected to work independently,


structured and with a strategic approach. You will support the work of the Danish
embassy on multiple tasks and areas involving active communication with
stakeholders, political actors and Civil Society organisations. In this regard, you will
be expected to:

 Ensure an efficient collaboration between Danish stakeholders and


Colombian actors both at national and local levels;
 Coordination and research of political developments, and participation in
relevant political meetings, seminars, etc.
 Plan meetings with high-level Colombian political stakeholders;
 Assist in administrative tasks, including PA, travel planning and budgeting.
 Support the coordination and execution of visits by Ministers and/or members
of the Danish Government to the region.

About you:

We see that the ideal candidate for the position:


 Has relevant work experience – preferably from other Embassy/international
organization.
 Has relevant university degree at bachelor level or higher.
 Is fluent in English (C1) and Spanish, both written and spoken. The candidate
must be able to translate from Spanish to English and vice versa. Knowledge
of Scandinavian languages is an advantage but not a requirement.
 Has excellent analytical and writing skills.
 Has strong networking skills, is outgoing and a good team player.
 Has an interest or experience from one or more of the following areas:
international relations, environmental diplomacy and energy transition.
 Is interested in the public affairs of Denmark, Colombia and international
politics. Knowledge of Danish partner organizations is an advantage.

We offer:

The Embassy offers a full time position starting from November 2023 (or after
security approval) with:

 An average of 37 working hours per week, including a 30 minutes daily


lunch break, but you are employed without an upper working hour limit
 Entitlement to 2,08 days of paid holiday per month
 An international working environment and friendly colleagues.

 A 1-year local contract running until 2025 but with automatic extension (terms
will be specified in dialogue with the applicant).
