1. OBJECTIVE
Establish an emergency plan for the activity of lifting cargo with cranes, so that the
trained employees of CAO COLOMBIA S.AS. These work instructions must ensure
that the risks to the health of a victim are reduced to a minimum. The emergency
plan minimizes the risk behavior of employees during the development of lifting
activities, and in case of an emergency it is attended in a safe manner.

SSTA Inspector: Verify the safe application of this plan, as well as verify all
preventive measures for access to the load hoisting area.
4. GENERAL RULES
All elements used for lifting loads must be inspected before being used in the
maneuver.

5. DEFINITIONS
Load lifting: Operation performed to move large and/or heavy objects that cannot be
transported manually; the equipment used for load lifting is any device that allows lifting or
lowering a load, previously calculated, in a safe and controlled manner.
Rigging: It is any element that participates in the connection of loads to the load lifting
accessory (slings, accessories).
Sling: Cables, chains, metallic meshes and synthetic belts, which allow the load to be
attached to a hoisting device.
Rigging accessories: Such as shackles, eyebolts, hooks, turnbuckles, rods, spreader frames,
lifting eyes, differentials.
Steel wire rope: Set of steel wires grouped and twisted helically, constituting a metallic rope
capable of resisting tensile stresses and with adequate flexibility properties. The cable is
made up of three basic components which, according to their configuration, constitute cables
with different characteristics, useful for different purposes.
Load radius: Horizontal distance from the axis of rotation of the equipment (crane) to the
center of gravity of the load.
