MURAL COMPETITION

Dear parents and NPSI community members,

Further to Dr Bindu’s circular, which was sent out on Wednesday, it gives me great pleasure to provide
additional detail for our inaugural new campuses’ mural competitions.

The Primary School Mural Competition will be based on the following:

The purpose of this competition is to seek design ideas about the “FOUNDERS” who contributed to the
creation and establishment of Singapore. Students based on their different grades are asked to send in
their mural design ideas from their Global Perspectives, History and Geography curricula themes:

Early Years/Grade 1 Invaders and settlers to the sleepy island

Grade 2 Colonization and development
Grade 3 1900-1945 the impact of development and invaders
Grade 4 Postwar and the vision of LKY – the rise of the garden state
Grade 5 Singapore the Smart Green City and city of the future

The winners for each grade will be chosen from designs that will be incorporated into a mural which
charts the history and diversity of Singapore. For grades 1 and 2 we would welcome an A4 landscaped
layout. (horizontal) and for grades 3, 4 and 5, A3 landscape layout (horizontal). Designs will need to be
submitted in traditional artwork form (painting, colouring etc.)

The Secondary School Mural Competition will be based on the following:

The purpose of this competition is to seek design ideas based on the theme, “SHAPING OUR FUTURE”.
This will be an inclusive competition across the different grades of 6-12 and an open-ended theme,
differentiated for these older year groups.
The top 3 will be chosen from all the submissions, which can be in traditional artwork format (painting,
colouring etc.) or digitally designed. The orientation for this design will also be in the landscape layout.

The 3 winning designs (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be painted to various walls within the campus, based on
positional prominence.

Deadline for submission:

All designs need to be submitted by Friday 9th September 4.30pm. We will be aiming to announce the
winners by Friday 23rd September.

Primary Mural Competition:

Please submit all original artwork entries as a hard copy to your child’s Homeroom teacher. If you have

Secondary Mural Competition:
Designs in 'digital form' to be emailed to Mr. Sakthivel, email: sakthivel.v@npsis.edu.sg .
Designs in 'physical form' to be submitted to HRTs.
