Project Proposal: Single Girder Overhead Crane

I. Description and Drives

A mobile crane that can hoist safe working loads is the single girder overhead crane. The
crane bridge girders are modified to fit the ceiling design, allowing for the best possible use of
available space. A cantilever crab or a chain hoist in an unusually short headroom trolley design
can be used to raise the lifting height. The bridge is a load-bearing beam that spans the width of
the crane bay and serves as the principal structural component that links the runways and
transports the hoist forward and backward with the help of a trolley. Depending on the
construction of the building structure and the requirements for the lift, the trolley and hoist might
be top or under running. A single girder overhead crane is widely used in workshops,
warehouses, and storage yards for low duty or moderate services.
The group will design a single girder overhead crane used in huge factories. It will be
limited to 3 tons capacity and benefits workers through its electrical hoist lifting system.
Moreover, the crane's movement will be horizontal using a three-wheel trolley system.
