Developing self-awareness

self awareness is most crucial thing to have for a leader because if you are confused about your self
than how you understand the right path of your leadership. In this chapter I learn how self knowledge
help me to be a good leader and how I can apply this in my daily life.

Introduction:

Self-awareness serves as a compass that helps us manage the complicated environment of our
thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Though the way to self-awareness can be difficult, it is a deeply
satisfying trip that promotes development on the individual level, improved interpersonal
relationships, leadership qualities, and a better quality of life.

The challenge of self exploration:

Uncomfortable truths about us must be faced to develop self-awareness. It involves eliminating the
layers of who we are, embracing our fears, finding our sensitive line, and accepting our weaknesses.
Although it could be painful or tough, this process is a necessary one for personal development.

What i learn from this chapter? And

How this chapter relate to my life?

 Firstly, Identify about our own sensitive and others sensitive line too. Sometime people will
target us personally. Therefore, we should know how to control our aggression and deal with
the situation in a positive way. Moreover, as a leader we should also know the sensitive line of
the audience as well, think before speaking, so that it never hurt personally to the listeners.
 Secondly, emotional intelligence is an ability that we should learn how to control our emotion
in worst situation, stay clam and positive when we are talking to our audience weather we are
in a good or bad mood. Balance our personal and professional life, so that they both don’t
affect each other. Apart from this, i am person who react quickly, and sometimes it has bad
outcomes. So, I learned that not to react quickly. First, proper understand the situation. If is it
possible than take advise of others and than react to the situation.
 Thirdly, we should know what our moral and personal values. So that we never cross them. So,
I personally belief that drinking and smoking is worst think to do, and a person should avoid
these types of bad hobbits and in future in will stick on my values. For example, few days ago, I
saw a video on social media, in which the prime minister of India Narendra Modi went to the
global meeting in Paris. He raises drink for toast but done not drink. It shows that how
strongly he follows his personal beliefs. Moreover, he never changes his spiritual performances
and moral values whether he is in another county. For me he is the role model for new
generation, who get influence by other thoughts and beliefs and start follow them and forget
about their own beliefs and values.
 Fourthly, in my opinion cognitive style of handling the situation make a person good leader.
Think out of the box and change failure into advantage. For this having a calm and cool mind is
must needed. Always positive, use different ways to deal with situation. For example, world’s
most successful captain, the captain of Indian cricket Ms. MS Dhoni, who won every single
campion trophy in the world in his career, is known as “Captain cool” because of his clam
attitude in worst situations at filed. He always came up with new strategies and try his best.
Moreover, he always supports his team. As a leader, when he wins, he stands at last in the
photo, but when he loss the match, he takes the charge and give clarification on media, that’s
why everybody whether his team or his country love him.
 Fifthly, I learned that for become a good leader we should be ready to adapt everything.
Situations are not same every time. So, we should update our self, be aware of everything
about the world. Example, culture and values of people, whom you are dealing with.

Finally, self evaluation is all about of coming out of your comfort zone, know your weaknesses and
plus points and work on it to be the best version of your self.
