Exercise 4
Paint manufacturing tests were carried out using different proportions of Emulsifier(Factor A) and Drying
Agent(Factor B) and it is desired to know if there is any influence on the drying time of the paint. Three
samples were analyzed for each combination. The results were:
Percentage of Emulsifier
Dryer 5 10 15 20 25
12 8 14 7 9
5 11 5 21 18 12
10 2 5 8 9
19 5 6 8 9
10 18 3 23 21 9
6 1 21 12 14
8 4 15 12 10
15 12 6 21 9 15
16 2 15 18 22
Determine whether these factors are significant (or which of them are significant) to the drying time of
the paint.
Exercise 5
In reviewing the conditions of the previous experiment, it was found that the different replicates were
conducted on different days of the week (i.e., at different environmental conditions). The results were
regrouped and the following table was obtained:

Conclusion: The percentage of Emulsifier if significant for the Drying Agent, this means that it does
affect it.
Exercise 6
In a soldering process, five different fluxes are used at three different temperatures each and it is
desired to determine if these factors have an influence on the solder strength (measured in kilograms).
For each combination, three replicates were performed and the observed results were as follows:
Temperature
Flux Replica 10 15 25
1 23 14 15
VV 2 8 10 6
3 22 12 18

3 19 22 23

ZZ 2 6 10 3
3 33 15 22
Conclusion: The 5 different fluxes at three different temperatures have no influence on the solder
strength.
Exercise 7
In a pharmaceutical laboratory, an experiment is carried out to determine the optimum speed of the
three critical processes, with the aim of obtaining the lowest possible proportion of broken ampoules.
The results obtained were as follows
Conclusion: Revision speed is the only significant speed for obtaining the lowest proportion of broken
blisters.
Exercise 8
In a plastic container manufacturing company, experiments are carried out to determine the conditions
that provide the highest percentage of good products, managing three factors: temperature, molding
time and using screened and unscreened raw material. The results were:
