SOF NSO SYLLABUS CLASS 6

Section – 1: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Section – 2: Motion and Measurement of Distances, Light, Shadows and Reflections, Electricity and
Circuits, Fun with Magnets, Our Environment (Water, Air Around us, Garbage in Garbage out),
Sorting and Separation of Materials, Changes Around Us, The World of Living (Characteristics of
Living Beings, Parts of Plants, Body Movements in Animals and Adaptation), Food and its
Components, Fibre to Fabric.

Section – 3: Higher Order Thinking Questions - Syllabus as per Section – 2.

NOTE:

• Questions of level-I Olympiad exams will be 60% from the current class syllabus and 40% from the
previous class syllabus, e.g. Class-7 NSO exam will have 60% questions from class-7 syllabus and
40% questions from class 6 syllabus.
• Questions of level-II Olympiad exams will be from current class syllabus only.
• Questions in ACHIEVERS SECTION will be from current class syllabus only.
SOF IMO

Following the protocol of NEP (2020), NCF (2022), NCERT and CBSE guidelines, National and various
State Boards for the convenience of schools and students, any change/reduction in the syllabi will be
reflected in actual question papers.

Total Questions: 50
Time: 1 hr.
Section – 1: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Section – 2: Knowing our Numbers, Whole Numbers, Playing with Numbers, Basic Geometrical
Ideas, Understanding Elementary Shapes, Integers, Fractions, Decimals, Data Handling,
Mensuration, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Symmetry, Practical Geometry.
Section – 3: Syllabus as per Section – 2.
Section – 4: Higher Order Thinking Questions - Syllabus as per Section – 2.

NOTE:

Questions of level-I Olympiad exams will be 60% from the current class syllabus and 40% from the
previous class syllabus, e.g. Class-7 IMO exam will have 60% questions from class-7 syllabus and
40% questions from class 6 syllabus.
Questions of level-II Olympiad exams will be from current class syllabus only.
Questions in ACHIEVERS SECTION will be from current class syllabus only.

PRIMARY :( Gauss Contest - V and VI Standards)


ARITHMETIC: Fractions, percentages, profit and loss, tests of divisibility, LCM, HCF, Ratio and
proportion, Calendar
MENSURATION: Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles.
ALGEBRA: Algebra as literal Arithmetic, Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of simple
Arithmetic expressions.
GEOMETRY: Straight lines, parallel lines, Angle properties of triangles, quadrilaterals and polygons.
UIMO- UNIFIED INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD

Mathematics-1: Knowing our Numbers, Whole Numbers, Playing with Numbers, Basic
Geometrical Ideas, Understanding Elementary Shapes, Integers, Fractions, Decimals, Data
Handling, Mensuration, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Symmetry.

Mathematics-2: Syllabus as per Mathematics – 1.Thissection includes multiple choice questions


which have more than one option as correct answers.

Reasoning:Analogy,Series,Coding-decoding,Alphabettest,Mirrorimage,Paper
folding,Openedout,Oddoneout,Mathematicalreasoning,Analyticalreasoning,Puzzletest.

Critical Thinking: Higher order thinking questions as per the syllabus of mathematics and
reasoning (above).This section also includes combination of skills like conscious application in
real life, Logical & Inductive Reasoning, Tactics & Strategies in decision making.
