Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan English 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students must be able to do the following with at least 80%
level of success:
A.) identify the five parts of news story;
b.) create a news story; and
c.) enumerate the importance of a news story.
II. Subject matter
Topic: Parts of the News Story

II. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
Anyone who wants to lead the prayer?
Let us pray.
2. Greeting
Good morning class.
3. Checking of Attendance
Who are the absent for today?
4. Recall of the Past Lesson
 Do you still remember our previous lesson?
 What is it all about?
 What are the two voices of verb?
B. Motivation
The teacher will ask the students to group into 2. The students will form and
resolve the hidden picture of puzzle and after they resolve the puzzle the
student can find hidden question at the back of the puzzle, the first group to
finished the puzzle and answer the question will win and get the highest
points.
C. Presentation/ Discussion

1. The headline functions Is to grab the reader’s attention while successfully


summarizing the main point of the article
2. The byline is the easiest part of the entire article as it does not require much
creativity. It functions to tell the reader who the article is by, what their job role
is, and how to find more of their content.
3. The lead could be seen as the most essential part of the newspaper structure. It
should be one paragraph long, and by reading it, your audience should be able to
understand exactly what your article is about and what you are reporting on.
4. The body is the main section of your newspaper article, so it will include lots of
important information about what happened, along with more detail about what
you said in your lead section.
5. The tail includes the least important information from your report and functions
to sum-up the events.
D. Application
The students will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will create a news story
about what’s happening in our country and discuss the different parts.
E. Generalization
 What is the importance of a news story?
 What is the difference between the news and simple stories?
 Enumerate the five parts of news story

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Identify what parts of the news story in the following. Write in the blank if
it’s a Headline, Byline, Lead, Body, and Tail.
