GRAMMAR QUIZ #1 REVIEW 7th GRADE

NOUNS AS ADJECTIVE: English often uses nouns as


adjectives - to modify other nouns. For example, a car
that people drive in races is a race car. A car with extra
power or speed is a sports car. Nouns that modify other
nouns are called adjectival nouns or noun modifiers.

EXAMPLES:

Sport bag

English School

Also, some other words such as ORDINAL AND


CARDINAL NUMBERS, COLORS, depending on the
context can work as noun or adjective in a sentence,
depending on the case.

Cardinal numbers Example:

 The three jackets are mine (three is an ADJECTIVE)


 Three is the number that I like the most.

Ordinal Numbers:

 He was the first student to finish the quiz.


(ADJECTIVE)
 First, we have to study then you can play in the
park.

COLORS:

Example: The red T-shirt fits on you. (Red is an


adjective, describing the T-shirt)
RED is a color used to represent blood.

Practice A: Write in each case whether the underlined


word is an adjective or a noun, depending of the context.

1. Blue is not a color that a like that much!


2. That international office is always very full of
people.
3. The sport sweater has the colors of our country.
4. First, we chop the onions, then we put them in a

6. The Math department is in a meeting at this
moment.
7. Black is just the absence of light in color.
