Baahya Shaanti Sukta Audio 1
Purpose of mantra: This mantra removes Pitru dosh and gives the grace of Kula
devata.
Instructions:
1. For chanting mantra: After bathing and before worshipping God, sit facing
south, prostrate before the Pitar (do namaskar to Pitar) and chant verses 1 to 24
and immediately chant verses 22-24 (together) two more times.
2. For doing havan of the mantra: After bathing and before worshipping God,
prostrate before the Pitar (do namaskar to Pitar). Place havan-kund in the east
such that the smoke from the havan goes in west direction. Sit in the west, facing
the havan-kund (in the east). During the havan, when making the offerings,
‘swadhaa’ is to be mentioned instead of ‘swaahaa’. a. Chant verses 1-24, then
offer some black til (sesame seeds) mixed with ghee (clarified cow’s butter) into
the havan while saying ‘swadhaa’. b. Immediately, chant verses 22-24 once more
and make the offering with the chant of ‘swadhaa’. c. Repeat step (b) once more.
Thus, verses 22-24 ought to be chanted three times in all. Take care to collect any
til that falls outside the havan-kund is collected and disposed as ‘nirmalya’. Care
should be taken that no one steps over these til seeds. It is not compulsory to use
coal or wood, for the havan. One could also use waste paper and few drops of
ghee. The devotees of Shree Swami Samartha are advised to do this exercise
