I. Objectives
At the end of the discussion students should be able to:
 discuss the challenges that Perseus defended
 design diagrams reflecting on the challenges of Perseus
 promote courage and hope in fighting against the “giants in life and,
 display concern for others.

A. Topic: The Gorgon’s Head

C. Materials: Laptop, Power Point, Print out

III. Procedures
A. Preparation
 Prayer
 Greetings
Greet the students then ask tghem to seat properly.
 Checking of attendance
 Motivation: Picture me, Define me! Or Task 8: Mystery Word

B. Review
 Answer the questions:
1. Who are the characters in the story?
2. What is the setting of the story?

C. Purpose of the Lesson

a. Activity
 Presentation of the Topics: Read and study the story entitles “The
Gorgon’s Head” (From Ancient Greece, translated by Anne Terry
White)
 Discussion Proper: discuss the characters, settings, plot and theme of
the story. Why is the story considered as a myth?

b. Analysis
 Ask:
1. What is the dreadful oracle that was delivered to King Acrisius?
2. What adventure does Polydectes suggest that Perseus undertake?
3. How the oracle given to King Acrisius is fulfilled?
4. How the evil Gorgon’s head is beneficial to Perseus?

c. Abstraction
 Processing Questions:
1. How did you feel about the activity
2. Can you consider Perseus a hero. Why or why not?
3. How does Perseus quest enable him to prove himself a hero?

d. Application
 Let the students go to their respective groups. Then let them do the
tasks listed below:
1. Create a timeline of events in the story.
2. Create a Venn diagram that compares the characteristics of Perseus and
Medusa. Provide evidences.
3. Create a diagram that shows the challenges of Perseus in his quest to acquire
the Gorgon’s head.
4. Create a diagram that shows the relationship of all the characters in the Myth.

e. Evaluation
 Accomplish the Task 8 Mystery Word on p. 36.

IV. Assignment
 In a group of 5 members perform a 3 minute drama showing at least
one characteristic of Perseus that you like.
