Be strong in the Lord.

Rev. Daniel A. Bondad

Eph 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

Laying that foundation

1. To be strong in the Lord you have to know that it is a command not a suggestion
2. To Be strong in the Lord and the power of his might is clear that we should not seek
alternatives.

2 Cor 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me.

3 simple and yet important steps that you need in order for you to have a strong Christian life towards
your legacy.

1. Start strong. You need Christ.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Phil 4:13

2 Cor 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ

When you have that relationship when you are born again in Christ – here’s what’s going to happen.

Your citizenship has changed.

Your spiritual family has changed.

Your life has changed.

Your calling has changed.

Your perspective has changed.

Your priorities have changed.

2. Stay strong. You need the Church.

Matthew 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the
gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”.

Acts 2 is the example and the kind of Church you need to stay strong!

a. You need to engage in worship – A strong church is a worshiping church.

Acts 2:46-47 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to
house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all
the people.

I Cor. 10:31 whether therefore you eat or drink and what soever you do, do all to the glory of God.

b. You need to engage in evangelism – A strong church is a witnessing church.

Acts 2: 40-41 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from
this [l]perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day
about three thousand souls were added to them.

c. You need to grow spiritually – A strong church is a learning church.

42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and
in prayers.

d. You need to engage people – A strong church is a loving church.

Acts 2:44-45 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their
possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

1 Cor 13: 2-3 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am
nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned,
but have not love, it profits me nothing.

3. Finish strong. You need a solid Commitment.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 6:11-12
But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly
life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold
tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many
witnesses

2 Corinthians 4:7-12
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of
us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in
despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the
body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who
live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our
mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.
Verses 16-17
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being
renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with
wings as eagle they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint.
