STOCKTON, Calif., Feb. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Pharmacy Technicians University (PTU), a best-in-class online
education and training program for pharmacy technicians, was recognized by the Pharmacy Technician
Certification Board (PTCB) as a sterile compounding education and training program suitable for prep for the
Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician™ (CSPT™) exam. A CSPT designation demonstrates a certified
pharmacy technician's specialized knowledge and skill, as well as a commitment to the role they play in ensuring
medication safety, particularly in the hospital setting.

PTCB specifically recognized the hospital version of the 600-hour curriculum of Pharmacy Technicians University's
National Standards Training Program for CSPT exam prep. The PTU National Standards Hospital Program is
ASHP/ACPE-accredited and provides:
• 160 hours of didactic training, 80+ hours of lab simulations, and 360 hours of experiential training
• In total, 14 hours of didactic training and 28 hours of simulation exercises are dedicated to sterile compounding
• Eligibility for up to seven college credit hours via the ACE CREDIT® recommendation program
• Extensive tracking and reporting capabilities through a centralized administrative view for managers and
leadership
In addition to the 600-hour National Standards Program, PTU offers "right-sized" training programs to meet
different organizational needs and state requirements, including PTU 101 (80 or 110 hours), PTU Advanced (160
