Dear Professor/Recruiter,
I am writing to apply for the Research Fellow at as announced on your website of Cranfield University. I was awarded PhD in
the Department of Chemical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad Campus (BITS Pilani), India
on July 6th, 2023. The research primarily involves the synthesis of new catalysts and modification for the conversion of CO2
into value-added products such as methane. The primary characterization techniques involved in my work are XRD, BET,
SEM, TEM, TPR, TPD, XPS and in situ-FTIR for gas analysis micro-gas chromatography (Agilent systems). As a part of my
research, I have worked on density functional theory (DFT) simulations to understand the mechanism of adsorption. Another
simulation tool is Aspen Plus, which is used to develop the equilibrium conversion data for the given system.

During my Ph. D., I obtained hands-on experience in using data modelling and simulation software such as Aspen and DFT.

My PhD thesis explored catalysts of transition metals that are used for converting CO2 and the experimental data were
correlated using user-defined models for identifying the best suitable representation. I also modified one of the models for
better fitting performance and uncertainties in experimental measurements were also discussed in my thesis. Altogether, I
obtained 5 journal articles, 2 conference proceeding articles, and 1 book chapter and attended 10 national and international
conferences through my Ph.D. Currently, one manuscript is under review. All my works concluded with a cumulative and
average impact factor of 24.1 and 6.2.
Considering my work experience and academic background, I can confidently say, I can perform lab scale experiments
individually together with analysing data scientifically and I believe I have theoretical knowledge of process industries/design.

My future goal is to become a part of the scientific community and pursue research in heterogeneous catalysis and to further
develop my theoretical and practical knowledge of catalysts by paying more attention to their chemical, and physical
behaviours by performing extensive research, while at the same time utilizing different techniques. This could enable me to
improve my skills and standards in the development and operationalization of industrial processes and also enable me to
determine the best design approach for the industries.
I am open to various thoughts and views which I feel is very essential to carry out practical research work. Co-operation and
group work means a lot as I strongly feel that breakthrough development is only possible through group work where one must
adjust to the environment.
An extremely distinguished faculty and cutting-edge project facilities are the factors that have motivated me to apply for this
position at IIT Roorkee. I see the Research fellow Position at this prestigious Institution as a stepping stone to world-class
research and development. With the educational values and experiences that I possess, I believe that I have the capability and
potential to take this position. I am confident that I will be an active, open-minded, and helpful member during my Research
Fellow Job.
