ENABLING TASK 2 – PRÉCIS

(4-6 Members per Group)

DESCRIPTION:

Précis, from Old French and meaning “cut short” (dictionary.com), is a concise summary of an article or
other work. The précis, then, explains the main point, logical support, and structure of the original work but
in a greatly condensed form. The précis is objective, unlike a critical analysis, which evaluates the argument
and use of evidence within an article. Thus, the précis does not offer evaluations about a text or include
personal reactions to a text (Sweeney & Hooker, 2017).

You will draft the précis of your strand-specific position paper outline you have worked on during your
WW1 in Week 3. Kindly recall the rationalization of your outlining quiz. Next, download the full copy of
your strand-specific position paper from the Academic Papers tile in Hurtado. In précis writing, adhere to
the guidelines:

1. The initial write-up must be encoded in a Google document made by your teacher. Your teacher will
monitor your group's progress in the shared document. Your teacher can see how each member helped
make the output. Please wait for your teacher's feedback during the week before you finalize and submit
it.
2. Word count must not exceed 500.
3. Format is as follows: A4 Size, normal margin, Times New Roman 12, single-spaced. The template is
given in the Hurtado platform.
4. The highest mark you can get is 50.
5. Refer to the rubric for guidance.
6. Since this is a practical test, the deadline is September 27, 2023.
