Content Standard:

The learners demonstrate understanding of the four fundamental operations involving whole
numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Lesson/ Topics:
 Place Values, Comparing, Ordering and Rounding Off Decimals
 Addition and Subtraction of Decimals
 Multiplication of Decimals
 Division of Decimals
 Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product and Quotient of Decimals
 Problems Involving Decimals

Transfer Goal:
The students will be able to independently use their learning on Budgeting Our Money
with decimals so that they will be able to apply the concepts of decimals up to
billionths and its operations in dealing with real-life situations and a wiser way of
budgeting one’s financial income.

STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE

GROUP TRANSFER TASK

Goal – Apply the four fundamental operations involving whole numbers, fractions, and
decimals in mathematical problems and in real-life situations.

Role – as a nutritionist

Audience – All learners in Grade 6 and the Math teacher.

Situation – Lucy has a diabetes and she is on a strict diet. As her nutritionist, your group’s
task is to prepare her daily meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. (This is to be done by groups
of five. Each group can choose one of the three). Each group shall bring the necessary
ingredients for a proper diet and a weighing scale. Your group will present the ingredients in
front of the class and explain how the meal that you have prepared for Lucy is healthy and
proper. An example is shown in the textbook found in Chapter 4, Lesson 2 under NURTURE
part. The example asks for what Lucy can choose and put in her sandwich not exceeding a
weight of 0.375 g for her breakfast.

STAGE 3: LEARNING PLAN

Summary of Key Learning Events and Instruction

The teaching and learning will involve

Day 1: (Place Values, Comparing, Ordering and Rounding Off Decimals) Recall with
students comparing and ordering of numbers and apply the procedure to decimals.

Day 2: (Addition and Subtraction of Decimals) Discuss adding and subtracting decimals
answering the questions posted about that can be bought with 100 pesos and check
answers with students.

Day 3: (Addition and Subtraction of Decimals) Recall adding and subtracting decimals
through discussing the answers in the assignment given.

Day 4: (Multiplication of Decimals) Discuss multiplying decimals accurately. Give

examples in real-life situations and use the details as examples in multiplying decimals.

Day 5: (Multiplication of Decimals) Conduct and activity that will help students
enhance their multiplication skills. Then, Elicit from students how to come-up with the
monthly amortization of a particular purchase applied for installment basis of payment.

Day 6: (Multiplication of Decimals) Group students into five and ask them to measure
their height and weight. Tell students to record the heights in feet while the weight in
kilograms.

Day 7: (Division of Decimals) Discuss simultaneously on how to divide decimals.

Day 8: (Division of Decimals) Divide the class into groups of threes. Allow the groups
to work on the NURTURE activity in the textbook.

Day 9: (Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product, and Quotient of Decimals) Using

videos, give examples of situations where estimation of decimals is very useful. Discuss
the steps in estimating the sums, differences, products and quotients of decimals. Use the
examples in the textbook.

Day 10: (Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product, and Quotient of Decimals) Recall
with the students the steps in estimating results by discussing and checking the answers
of students in the assignment given.
Day 11: (Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product, and Quotient of Decimals) through a
video presentation, show problems involving the operations on decimals.

Day 12: (Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product, and Quotient of Decimals) Review
with students solving real-life problems involving decimal numbers using the QGOESA
method by discussion the solutions to their assignments.

Day 13: (Estimation of Sums, Difference, Product, and Quotient of Decimals) Conduct a
unit test to find out how much students have learned the lessons on decimals.
