Animal testing (Rabbits)

Animal experimentation for the production of cosmetics is one of the fields in which
animals are used, especially the rabbit.

Rabbits are used regularly for experimentation with new cosmetics. They are burned,
mutilated, poisoned and gassed, and if they manage to survive the process, they are
either killed so that their bodies can be studied or subjected to the same torment all
over again.

An experiment that is carried out is the famous Draize Test:

The Draize test is used to measure the toxicity of a substance. An animal is

subjected, and the substance to be tested is applied to the animal's skin or eye.
Tweezers can be used to open the animal's eyes. The substance can be left on the
skin or in the eye for up to 14 days to observe its effects. Animals are killed if the
damage caused is irreversible; unfortunately, the ones that don't suffer irreversible
damage are simply used again after a "cleaning." Draize tests can cause ulcers,
bleeding, blurred vision and blindness. Rabbits produce fewer tears than humans,
so they are subjected to extreme pain in these experiments.
