facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and assists all organizations, authorities, and services whose
mission is to prevent or combat international crime. INTERPOL is now looking for a qualified candidate as
Assistant Director IT Operations within the Information, Systems and Technology Directorate.

* This position carries, in principle, no expectation of renewal. Subsequent extension to this post will be subject to the
terms of the Organization’s Staff Manual, to satisfactory performance and to availability of funds.

INTRODUCTION OF POST
Reporting to the Director of Information Systems and Technology, the Assistant Director IT Operations is coordinating
the activities related to keep running all the IT Services and Infrastructures of the INTERPOL Information System.
The Assistant Director IT Operations at INTERPOL is a critical leadership role responsible for the management and
oversight of the organization's IT Operations teams. This role requires a strategic and forward thinking state of mind to
support the Director of Information Systems and Technology.
The Assistant Director will lead several teams who are responsible for the delivery and securing the IT services and
infrastructure to INTERPOL's member countries and stakeholders and corporate services.
As such, he/she is responsible for the reliability of the INTERPOL Information System on a 24 by 7 basis according to the
Services Level Agreements (SLA).
He/she will have a solid understanding and expertise of IT operations and management, and experience leading IT teams
in a fast-paced and very dynamic international environment. He/she should have a strong background in infrastructure,
database and cloud management, and a good understanding of IT security and compliance. Strong leadership capabilities,
excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for this role, as well as the ability to work well in a
team-oriented and collaborative environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES

DUTY 1: Leadership and staff management


 Foster the synergies, performance, knowledge, empowerment and motivation of the teams.
 Ensure and develop talent acquisition and promotes diversity overseeing all the recruitments of his/her Sub
Directorate taking care to promote the diversity of his/her staffs.
 Supervise personnel management: support to managers, individual assessment, identification of training needs,
elaboration of performance improvement plans, etc.

DUTY 2: 24/7 Operations


 Oversee the IT operations on a 24 by 7 basis, ensure that IT services are always available, secured and that
incidents are managed and resolved in a timely manner and efficiently.
 Organize the worldwide “On-call duty” and 24/7 shifts to meet the Service Level Agreements.
 Continuously improve efficiency of organization, processes, procedures and tooling.
 Ensure pro-active preventive and curative approaches.
 Set the conditions for an optimal knowledge sharing amongst the teams.
 Optimise the crisis management and communication strategy.
 Report on the IT Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

DUTY 3: Application support, Data management and Infrastructures


 Ensure consistency and efficiency of the different layers in scope (Application Support, Database, Datalake,
Network, Compute, Storage, Digital Workplace…) on premises and public cloud based.
 Lead the IT projects under the yearly Business Plan Directorate, from planning to implementation and
maintenance, ensuring that IT infrastructures are meeting the needs of the Organization's member countries,
stakeholder and corporate services.
 Participate to the IT Directorate DevOps movement.
 Optimize application integration to ensure project objectives while mitigating risks on the Service Level.
 Plan maintenance activities to ensure systems sustainability and continuous improvement.
 Ensure that documentation is permanently kept up-to-date and awareness shared with other IS departments and
units.

DUTY 4: IT Security, IT Availability and IT Conformity


 Develop a Secure By Design mindset and optimize the Security Operations Centre (SOC) activities and efficiencies
 Ensure that the infrastructures are secure, available according to the SLAs and able to meet the Organization's
current and future needs

 Ensure through the SOC, the security of INTERPOL's IT systems and data, including the implementation and
management of security tools, processes, incident responses and incidents management.
 Take responsibility of the application of the security policies resulting from the INTERPOL Information Security
Management System (ISMS)
 Implement and maintain the IT Disaster Recovery Plan according to the Organizational Business Continuity Plan
with associated backup plans
 Ensure INTERPOL's IT systems compliance with all relevant current and future INTERPOL standards and regulations
(RPD, data privacy, INTERPOL Security Policies…)
 Oversee the timelines, calendars, patching operations and emergency operations.

DUTY 5: Strategy, Planning and Reporting


 Develop with the Information System Director and other IS Senior managers, based on the team contribution, the
strategic approach for the Sub-Directorate (Technology orientation, Sustainability, Security paradigm,
Outsourcing/Internalization, Prioritization, etc.).
 Participate in the development of the IS Directorate’s annual business plan, establishes roadmaps and description
of activities, and identifies training relevant to the IT Operations Sub-Directorate.
 Ensure the execution of the IS Directorate’s annual business plan for the Sub-Directorate’s activities through the
establishment of a dashboard for reporting and associated KPIs.
 Plan and define performance indicators to monitor the quality of work performed according to the IS Directorate’s
and Organization strategies and objectives.
 Verify the pertinence of “quality indicators” and makes recommendations oriented towards continual
improvement of the quality of the IS Directorate products and services.
 Analyse and propose solutions to continuously improve the productivity and efficiency of staff’s activities.
 Drive the financial management (CAPEX/OPEX/Staff/Chargebacks…) of the Sub-Directorate through monitoring
and respect of budgeting procedures.
 Coordinate, manage and facilitate the Sub-Directorate’s staff and work assignment.
 Ensure the appropriate assignment, quantity, quality and planning of work in light of projected activities, staff
headcount and the competencies available within the Sub-Directorate.
 Direct, organise, plan and monitor the Sub-Directorate’s activities and projects.

DUTY 6: Innovation
 Conduct technological watch to develop and propose appropriate technological strategy.
 Bring forward proposals, from a technical, organization and financial point of view, to ensure that the means of
production are maintained at the appropriate technical level and to anticipate technological developments and
their impacts on the design of the production environment (e.g. integration of new equipment, fleet management,
etc.).

DUTY 7: Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders


 Develop and leverage a network of key stakeholders of the Organization, such as Procurement, Finance, HR, Audit,
CISO, partners, solutions providers and suppliers.

DUTY 8: Acting on behalf of the Director


 Act on behalf of the Director, in his/her absence, or when required, at organizational level or at international
events.
 Accurately represent the views and opinions of the Director at meetings, both inside and outside the Directorate
and the General Secretariat.
 Perform all other duties and assume responsibilities delegated by the Director.
 Ensure that any advices, decisions and issues on policy, programs and projects are consistent with INTERPOL
policies, the Directorate’s own policies and strategy, and the instructions of the Director.

WORKING CONDITIONS
 Remuneration for appointment on contract: Salary scales of all duty stations of INTERPOL can be found at
https://www.interpol.int/What-you-can-do/Careers/Vacancies. The starting point is step 1 and one additional step will be
granted for every 3 years of fully relevant experience. The salary scales of INTERPOL’s officials are adjusted at least once
per year (more under exceptional circumstances) on the basis of the methodology used for the calculation of the Purchase
Power Parity (PPP).
 The successful candidate may be offered appointment on a higher step depending upon professional background and

 The incumbent may occasionally be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload and to go on missions.
