SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS Model 7496 Low Pressure Control Valve DESCRIPTION ‘The model 7496 Low-Pressure Control Valve (Figure 1) is used at the end of a hose assembly to control the delivery of gear lubricant or ol. WARNING: EXPLOSION HAZARD DO NOT use Halogentated Hydrocarbon Solvents, such as methylene chloride or 1,1, -tricholorethane, in this ‘pump. An explosion can resutt when aluminum parts within an enclosed device capable of containing pressure come in contact with Halogenated Hydrocarbon Solvents. DO NOT TAKE ANY CHANCES! CONSULT YOUR, MATERIAL SUPPLIER TO BE SURE. The use of pressure reliet devices or chemical “stabilizers” WILL NOT provide the necessary safety to eliminate the explosion hazard! OPERATION CAUTION: Under no circumstances should the ‘control valve be pointed at anyone. Accidental ‘discharge of prossurized material can cause serious injury. Figure 1: Low Pressure Control Valve 1. Attach valve to the end of a fluid hose that is, attached to a pressure source, having a maximum pressure of 1000 PSI 2. To dispense lubricant: 1 Unlatch lever and depress. bb. Release lever to stop flow. . Wipe nozzle clean after use. SERVICE IMPORTANT: Do not attempt disassembly or service procedures on unit during warranty perio, CAUTION: Wom or damaged parts present a throat to personnel and property. Replace any wom or damaged parts. IMPORTANT: Prior fo reassembly lubricate all “0” rings and packings with SAE No. 10 oll or ight ‘machine oll Soak leather backup washers in SAE ‘No. 10 oil for at least 8 hours at room temperature. Protect all seals and sealing surfaces from damage and soratches in any way possible. CAUTION: Shut off equipment completely and release all pressures before disassembly or removal ‘of any part of the control valve. 1. Shut off and relieve all pressures within the system. 2, Unscrew the lubricant hose from the lubricant inlet cof the control valve (Figure 1). 3, Place the control valve in a vise with the handle up. ‘Swivel Adapter and Swivel Ster (Figure 2) 1. Pick both halves ot the split ring 315198 from end of swivel stem 337736. Pull on swivel stem to free it from the swivel adapter. 3, Replace “O” ring 171001-13 on models having the latest swivel adapter (837019). On models with the older swivel adapter (314672), replace gasket 314683. (See Figure 3). 4, Replace “O" ring 171009-8, Block "V" Packing 314670 and leather washer 314671 on swivel stem 387736, This replaces all previous packing configurations for the swivel stem. Reassomble by placing the leather washer on the swivel stem. Insert the °O ring into the Block “V" Packing and insert the Block "V" Packing, lip first, into the swivel adapter. (See detail in Figure 2). 5. insert the swivel stem into the swivel adapter and reassemble the split ring on the swivel stem. 6. Reassemble the swivel adapter with attached parts into the meter handle. Check Seat and Valve: (Figure 2) 1. Unscrew nozzle 52135 and remove. 2. Using a box wrench, unscrew check seat 314686 and remove check valve 314877. Replace “O” ring 171009-6 on check seat. On older models, replace gasket 304177, (See Figure 3). 3. Reassemble parts in the reverse order in which they were removed, NOTE: To ensure a proper seal between the valve body and the check seat, be sure that the "O" ring or ‘gasket is properly inserted, NOTE: The mating surtaces of the check valve and the check seat must be free of dirt and contamination to ensure a proper seal. 4 NPT © 314606__+g yPackINa 1 ue NeTe——+ (@ Repair Kit Part Lubricate with SAE #10 oil ¥ Note: This configuration replaces all previous ones. 710003 0m sus70@m 1467 @ ‘Figure 2: Components of Modal 7496 Contro! Valve page 2 page revised 11-91 Handle and Pin-Housing Assembly: (Figure 2) 1. Using a screwairver, remove two “E" retaining rings 170708. Slide out pin 314679 and remove handle 314685. 2. Unscrew pin-housing assembly 315566. Remove gasket 314684, latch 314658 and second gasket Late Models only (837019) Gaskot (314583) SER 7496 314684. Spring 331942 and washer 77689 can now be removed. 3, Replace the two gaskets 314684. Make sure that the gaskets are on each side of the latch. 4, Reassemble parts in the reverse order in which they were removed.
