METHOD STATEMENT FOR AQUASTOP,

CEMENTITIOUS WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE
CMCI This statement is prepared in order to assist the end users in the preparation and application
of AQUASTOP, a thin, load-bearing waterproofing system which offers high bond strength
and chemical resistance. The performance and procedural information regarding this product
is accurate and we will use our best efforts to keep it up.
A. Product
AQUASTOP system consists of the following:
1. 50kg powder
2. 20L liquid
3. 20sqm reinforcing fabric
B. Application Tools & Equipment
1. Drill mixer fitted with prop 2. Brush / Trowel / Trowel
C. Product Delivery & Storage
Deliver materials to jobsite in sealed, undamaged containers and bags. Each container
and bag shall be identified with material name, dates of manufacture / expiry. Store the
bags in covered/roofed areas.
D. Surface Preparation / Fabric Preparation
1. Concrete surface shall be free from oil, laitance, grease, dirt, etc. Installation may be
made on a damp surface. Floor surfaces that will require patching, leveling or pitching
to drains shall be prepared prior to application of the membrane. For patching, use
latex bonding admixtures mixed with Portland cement at a 1:3 ratio.
2. Plan the sequence of placement. Pre-cut the fabric into lengths allowing 2” for overlap
and a minimum of 4” at each end for flashing cove base up to the wall. Roll-up the cut
fabric, so that each piece may be properly placed and unrolled into wet waterproofing
paste.
3. For cracks and cold joints, use 6” wide strip of fabric and mixed AQUASTOP for
reinforcement of the cracks and joints. Apply an extra layer of fabric and waterproofing
paste to flash into drains, at outside corners and at areas which are subjected to
stress or movement.
E. Mixing
Slowly add the powder to the liquid while mixing using a drill mixer. Mix for 3 – 5 minutes
or until a homogenous consistency is achieved. Do not add water to the mixture.

F. Application
1. Apply a thin layer (approximately 1.5mm) of AQUASTOP mixture slightly wider than
the width of the fabric. Spread the paste using trowel, squeegee or brush.
2. Immediately unroll and embed the fabric into the wet mortar.
3. Spread another thin layer of AQUASTOP mixture on top of the fabric until it
completely and uniformly covers the fabric.
4. Lap the fabric at 2” at seams.
5. Inspect the applied membrane for pinholes and holes.

G. Curing
AQUASTOP is a self-curing system. However when the area is exposed to sunlight or
very warm temperature, use wet curing. Allow to cure for at least 7 days.

H. Clean Up
Equipment and tools should be cleaned immediately after use with water.
