Classroom environment
I will utilize lamps inside my classroom as opposed to the florescent, overhead lights. My

room will contain a reading/emotion area for the students to step away and recollect their

emotions if feeling overwhelmed or upset. This area will also let them be able to pick up a

good book from the bookshelf and read in the beanbag chairs once they have completed all

their assignments. I will have my desk at the back of the classroom, with a round table off to

the left to hold small groups and interventions during rotation work. The students will be

sitting in 4 groups of 5 facing the smart board so they can see PowerPoints and work that I

will be going over. The students will have access to their cubbies and hang up their

belongings when they walk into the door where I will greet them every morning with a hug,

handshake, dance move, or high five to get the day started.

Classroom Procedures
- I will greet my students at the door ready to start the day with a smile as they walk into

the classroom. They are to put their backpacks and lunch boxes in their designated
cubbies and sit in their assigned seat then wait for the morning bell ringer to get their

brain moving and ready to learn. Once they have completed the bell ringer, we will go

over it as a class to see others’ perspective on the topic or riddle that was posted on the

board.

- We will take restroom breaks when leaving the classroom to go to PE and music class. If

you need to go during class time, they are to raise their hand and cross their pointer finger

over their middle finger to indicate they need to go potty.

- If you need a pencil or scrap paper, just walk over to the supply cubby quietly and grab

what you need.

- If you need help on an individual assignment, raise your hand and I will be happy to

answer any questions.

- If you need to leave the classroom for any reason other than the bathroom, you can raise

your hand or walk over to me and ask me privately if you do not want to share out loud.

- If you miss a day of class and need the papers you missed, ask me or walk over to the

supply table and find the day you missed and grab the paper(s). If you need help

understanding what you missed, we can go over it together for refreshment.

- Anyone who walks into the classroom should be treated as royalty, and respect them as

you do me, regardless of if it’s a substitute or the principal.
