Literature
Ilocano literature is one of the most vibrant
Filipino literatures throughout the ages. Ilocano
regions are also one of the most active
tributaries in the Philippine literature.
A popular form of literature was the dallot, which
is an improvised, versified and impromptu long
poem delivered in a sing-song manner.
Francisco Lopez was an Augustinian friar who
published his Iloko translation of the Doctrina
Cristiana in 1621.

No man is an island.
The Molave tree was proud but not
boastful. He was old but he has only
lived for his own. He sees other
creature as something lower than him.
MOLAVE is like a rude adult who
demands respect simply because he's
older.
He is a self-centered character.
Despite the negative attitude he
portrayed during the first part, it
eventually changed as the orchid
appeared and shared insights to
Molave.
It was ironic for Molave to say that
each creature has logic, a reason for
existence and yet he does not know his
own reason for existence. He even
sees Orchid as an irrelevent being.
Orchid was brighter and wiser than
Molave. She had more mind boggling
thoughts and had better views in life
compared to Molave.

Literature
Bikolano literature has flourished, providing a
lively literary flavor unrivalled by any other
literary tradition.
Bikolano literature has its roots in orally
transmitted poems and mythical narratives that
reflect the history of the people.
The latter development implied that Bikolano
literature was dominated by religious writing at
that time.
Protest drama became a form of expressing the
people’s growing resentment of the Spanish rule.

Theatrical/political term it refers to all kinds of

theatre utilized to protest political and economic
inequities and social ills.

He was a Filipino poet, writer, educator
and politician from Baao, Camarines Sur.
He was one of the first Filipinos to write
and publish works in English.
 He was also considered as an “authority
on the Bicol language and culture.”
He also worked as a newspaperman for
the Bicol Star, Naga times, and other
Newspapers.
