ANDHRA PRADESH – SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT – 2 (2021 – 2022)

KEY SHEET for 08th Class

PHYSICAL SCIENCE
(English Version)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART - A
1. Total force from left to right direction = 8N +10N = 18N
Total force from right to left direction = 9N
Net force on the body = 18 – 9 = 9N towards right
2. Sometimes we apply some oil drops to hinges of doors to reduce friction.
3. Frequency : The number of oscillations per second is called frequency.
4. When a glass rod is rubbed with a silk ribbon and brought near to a thermocol ball, then the ball
attracted by the glass rod.
5. (i) When oil, grease or any other lubricants are applied between the moving parts of a
machine, a thin layer is formed between the moving surfaces.
(ii) Hence they do not directly rub against each other.

(iii) Interlocking of irregularities is avoided to a great extent by the application of lubricants.

(iv) Hence movement becomes smooth. So lubricants are used to reduce friction.
6. If salt is dissolved in water, then the salt particles occupies the space between molecules of
water. So the water level does not increase.
7.
Resin Code Can be recycled or not?
1 Can be recycled
2 Can be recycled
3 Can not be recycled
4 Can be recycled
5 Can be recycled
8. Malleability of metals used in our daily life:
(i) A thin foil of silver used to decorate sweets.
(ii) A thin foils of aluminium are used to pack food packets.
(iii) A black smith beats an hot iron rod and make agricultural instruments like chisel
(iv) A gold smith beats gold or silver and make ornaments.

9. If an earth quake occurs :
(i) I do not hide beside tall and heavy objects.
(ii) I can wear helmet if available or make some protection to my head.
(iii) I can hide under a table like objects.
10a. Force : Force is a pull or a push.
The changes can be produced by a force:
(i) It can change the state of motion of an object.
(ii) It may change the shape of an object.
(iii) It may change the direction of a moving object.
(iv) It may change the speed of a moving object.
(v) It can change the state of rest of objects.
(OR)
10b. Causes of Sound pollution :
(i) The sounds of horn of vehicles in the traffic.
(ii) The sounds at the construction site.
(iii) The sounds at the industries.
(iv) The sounds at mines.
(v) The sounds during explosions.
(vi) The sounds during burning crackers.
Measures to reduce sound pollution:
(i) Attach silencers to bike and other vehicles.
(ii) Machines with less noise to be manufactured.
(iii) While watching TV or listening tape recorder, keep down the volume.
(iv) Save plants as they reduce sound pollution.

11a.
Flame test – Procedure :
1. Take a spirit lamp and lit it.
2. Hold a piece of plastic (Say tooth brush) with the pair of tongs.
3. Place the sample piece on the flame of spirit lamp.
4. Observe the changes in that piece on heating.
5. If it get softened, it is thermo plastic. If it did not get softened it is thermo setting plastic.
6. Repeat the same procedure for the remaining samples of plastic pieces.

11b.
Aim : To observe the speed of diffusion of two gases.
Required : Glass tube (1 m) , Hydrochloric acid, Ammonia solution, Cotton, rubber corks-2.
Procedure :
(i) Take the glass tube.
(ii) Take two pieces of cotton.
(iii) Soak one in hydrochloric acid solution and the other in Ammonia solution.
(iv) Keep the cotton wools at each ends of the glass tube separately.
(v) Close the ends of the tube with rubber corks.
(vi) After few seconds a white colour gas ring is formed in the glass tube.
(vii) Measure the distance of the white gas ring from each of the cotton wools.
(viii) The white colour gas ring is nearer to the HCl cotton wool.
(ix) It is sure that the Ammonia gas diffuses quickly.
(x) This is because Ammonia is a light gas compared to Hydrogen chloride gas.
They have different speeds of diffusion.
12a.
(a) Sulphur is a non metal.
(b) Graphite is a non metal and an electric conductor.
(c) Iron and Copper are metals and electric conductors.
(d) Common properties of metals are :
Lustrous, Sonority, Electric conductivity, Thermal conductivity, Malleability
(OR)

12b.
(a) Angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
(b) The angle between reflected ray and normal drawn to the surface is called angle of reflection
(c) The angle between reflected ray and surface of reflection is 60o.
(d) The angle between incident ray and reflected ray is 60o.
