Statement of the Problem

The study aims to determine the relationship between the levels of

UTAUT model and adoption of the public health nurses in the Rural Health

Units of Eastern Samar in the use of eHealth.

Specifically, it will answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following:

a. Age

b. Sex

c. Information Communications Technology (ICT) Proficiency

d. Experience?

2. What is the perception of the respondents of UTAUT Model in terms

of:

a. Performance Expectancy

1. Perceived Usefulness

2. Extrinsic Motivation

3. Job-Fit

4. Relative Advantage

5. Outcome Expectation

b. Effort Expectancy

1. Perceived Ease Of Use

2. Complexity

3. Ease Of Use

c. Social Influence

1. Subjective Norm

2. Social Factors

3. Image

d. Facilitating Condition

1. Perceived Behavioral Control

2. Facilitating Conditions

3. Compatibility

4. Behavioral Intention?

3. What is the level of adoption of the respondents in terms of:

a. Physiologic Mode

b. Self – Concept Mode

c. Role Function Mode

d. Interdependence Mode?

4. Is there a significant relationship between the perception of the

respondents of UTAUT model and level of adoption of eHealth?

5. Do the profile and the perception of the respondents of the UTAUT

model can predict the adoption of eHealth?

Sampling Technique

The study will make use of Probability sampling that is through the

cluster sampling. The researcher will select randomly 10 rural health units

and then use exhaustive sampling technique or 100% total enumeration.

Research Instrument

The instrument that the researcher will be using in conducting this

study is a standardized questionnaire to determine the adoptive mode

based on UTAUT model and levels of adoption.

The questionnaire for UTAUT Model is from the study conducted by

Marcelo, Magtubo, Gonzales, et. al.(2014), which aims to determine the

adoption of the use of telemedicine device by Philippine Primary Care

Health Workers. While the questionnaire for adoption capacity was from the

study conducted by Rosal, Sodela, Tan, et. al, (2010). The first part

includes questions use to identify the demographic profile of the

respondents in terms of age, sex, experience and ICT proficiency.

The second part is composed of questions with corresponding

numbers answerable by 4.21 - 5.00 – for strongly agree, 3.41 - 4.20 – for

agree, 2.61 - 3.40 – for neutral, neither agree or disagree, 1.81 - 2.60 – for

disagree, and 1.0 - 1.80 – for strongly disagree, in which will be the basis

for measuring the adaptation mode in UTAUT model for public health

nurses. The respondents will be putting an X mark in the corresponding

space signifying the frequency in a given situation of the question. In order

to determine the rating of the respondents, a qualitative equivalent will be

provided.

Table 2. UTAUT Model Measurement

RATING EQUIVALENTS INTERPRETATION

The UTAUT model strongly agree based on

4.21 – 5.00 Strongly Agree the mode of adoption on the use of eHealth
The UTAUT model agree based on the mode
3.41 – 4.20 Agree of a adoption on the use of eHealth
The UTAUT model neutral based on the mode
2.61 – 3.40 Neutral of a adoption on the use of eHealth
The UTAUT model disagree based on the
1.81- 2.60 Disagree mode of a adoption on the use of eHealth
Strongly The UTAUT model strongly disagree based
1.00-1.80 on the mode of adoption on the use of eHealth
Disagree

UTAUT model is categorized into strongly agree, agree, neutral,

disagree and strongly agree basing on their knowledge about some

appropriate interventions, skills to perform the necessary procedures, and

proper attitude in use of eHealth.

The third part consist of questions with corresponding numbers still

answerable by 5 – for always, 4 – very often, 3 – for sometimes, 2 – for

rarely, and 1 – for never. Adoptive capacity may result to highly adaptable,

moderately adaptable, substantially adaptable, partially adaptable and non

– adaptable. The respondents will also be putting an X mark in the

corresponding space signifying the frequency in a given situation of the

question. In order to determine the rating of the respondents, a qualitative

equivalent will be provided.

Table 3. Level of Adoption Capacity Measurement

RATING EQUIVALENTS INTERPRETATION

The level of adoption is highly adaptable based on the

4.21 – Always
5.00 mode of adoption on the use of eHealth.

The level of adoption is moderately adaptable based

3.41 – Very Often
4.20 on the mode of adoption on the use of eHealth.

The level of adoption is substantially adaptable based

2.61 – Sometimes
3.40 on the mode of adoption on the use of eHealth.

The level of adoption is partially adaptable based on

Rarely
1.81- 2.60 the mode of adoption on the use of eHealth.

The level of adoption is non-adaptable based on the

Never
1.00-1.80 mode of adoption on the use of eHealth.
