INFLUENCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES ON TRANSIENT STABILITY OF

POWER SYSTEM NETWORK

1.0. INTRODUCTION

The economy strive of any nation depends maximumly on the sustainability of its electric energy
resources. This is because the pivot point of the economy development of a nation is the
availability and sustainable electrical power supply. The world for a very long time has been
depending on fossil fuel for power generation. Fossil fuels (e.g., coal, natural gas and oil) are not
only harmful to the planet when burned daily for energy, and they are also unsustainable as finite
resources and one day the world will run out of fossil fuels [1].
Renewable energy (such as, wind, solar and water (hydropower)) includes any energy source that
cannot be depleted and can remain viable consistently without any risk of running or harming the
environment [1]. Recent research on future energy pathways shows that it is technically possible
to achieve improved energy access, air quality, and energy security simultaneously while
avoiding dangerous climate change, thus, alternative combinations of renewable energy
resources, technologies, and policies are found capable of attaining these innovations [2].
Electric power system network is so designed with the intention to deliver efficient power to the
end users with reasonable economic balance, but this objective is not attainable in real life
practice, due to technical and non-technical factors.
