marks are for final examination, 30 marks are for Internal assessment and 40 marks are for the
practical portion).

1. Theory: All units carry equal weightage, i.e, 18 each.

a. Unit 1: Two internal choice questions of 6 marks (multiplication) and 12 marks
(input-output), respectively.
b. Unit 2: Two internal choice questions of 9 marks each.
c. Unit 3: Two internal choice questions of 9 marks each (one question from partial
and other one from integration).
d. Unit 4: Four external choice questions of 6 marks each, out of which 3 questions
to be attempted.
e. Unit 5: Two questions of 6 marks and 12 marks, respectively or one question of
18 marks.
2. Practical: 40 Marks in total
a. 10 marks are for the continuous assessment
b. 30 marks are for the three hour practical examination (20 for exam and 10 for the
viva)
c. 20 Marks exam should be having:
i. 5 marks for matrices question
ii. 5 marks for Simplex question
iii. 10 marks (2 questions) for mathematics of finance

3. Unit 1- Matrices and Determinants:

a. Simple questions on multiplication and addition and linear equations to be
covered,
b. services and holding applications are not to be tested
c. Input output (open model only)

4. Unit 2- Calculus I:
a. Taxation subsidy and convexity not to be covered.

5. Unit 3- Calculus II:

a. Partial Derivatives:
i. Nature of commodities and four partial elasticity of demand
ii. Production function can be done with the help of Cobb Douglas
production function (Total differential not to be discussed; just give the
definitions)
iii. Maxima and Minima with no constraints (Lagrangian multiplier not to be
covered)
b. Integration:
i. Deriving the demand function given the marginal revenue function and the
elasticity of demand and deriving the cost function given the marginal cost
function
ii. Consumer and producer surplus (only perfect competition questions to be
asked)
iii. Rate of sales, learning curve not to be covered.

6. Unit 4- Mathematics of Finance:

a. Amortization of funds and sinking funds to be tested in practical lectures and not
in the theory.

7. Unit 5- Linear Programming:

a. Maxima with constraints ‘less than or equal to’ to be covered
b. Minima with constraints ‘greater than or equal to’ to be covered
c. Maxima/Minima with mixed constraints to be covered
d. Four special cases to be covered
