Strategic Intervention Material for Grade 9 English

III. TIME FRAME

This is a contextualized material that will be adapted and implemented to address the learning
gaps on some students in Grade 9 students as found in the least mastered skills report. It is intended
to take implementation at the start of 3rd Quarter for S.Y. 2021-2022.

IV. TARGET BENEFICIARIES

A list of identified least/most mastered skills based on the frequency of errors/correct responses
from Grade 9 under the subject English 9 showed the learning gaps on a learning competency. With
this, the teacher intends to address this learning gaps by implementing intervention to identified
Grade 9 students.

V. RATIONALE

English 9 is one of the basic subjects in Grade 9 which requires learners to be able to learn and
adapt required skills and competency as implemented in the curriculum.

The current set-up of distance learning in which Victorias National High School – Gaston
extension adapted the Modular Print Learning Delivery has showed difficulty in allowing students
acquire and develop learning competency skills. Also, as reported by their Class Adviser, some
students have difficulty in reading skills and comprehension.

These are some of the possible reasons for the identified learning gap as per reported in the list of
identified least/most mastered skills based on the fre1uency of errors/correct responses in the
subject. There is an apparent need for the learners to experience and see actual materials and
equipment to be able to learn the required competencies, which they cannot possibly do at home.
Thus, the teacher came up with the idea of a Strategic Intervention Material to solve the issue.

VI. OBJECTIVES

The objective of implementing the Strategic Intervention Material for English 9 to address the
students’ identified learning gap as per the list of identified least/most mastered skills based on the
frequency of errors/correct responses.

VII. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND MECHANICS

This is a Strategic Intervention Material for English 9 that aims to address the learning gap on
identified students in Grade 9. These identified students failed to gain mastery of a specific
competency because of the lack of actual experience and guided practice to acquire the learning
competency. In this manner, the teacher intends to reach out to these students in partnership with
Project DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) and perform tutoring at school to be able to make sure
that the learners would eventually gain mastery of the said competency.

The intervention material with reading materials provided by the teacher will be presented to
students. The teacher will also get parents’ permission to allow students to come to school for
tutorial sessions.

XI. MONITORING AND EVALUATION

The teacher will conduct monitoring and evaluation to students’ progress through formative
assessment which will provided at the end of the lesson.
