Access to clean and safe drinking water is a
fundamental human right essential for sustaining
life and ensuring public health. The Kaliganj
Thana, situated in the Satkhira District of
southwestern Bangladesh, is emblematic of the
water quality challenges faced by rural
communities in this region. The inhabitants of
Kaliganj heavily rely on groundwater sources for
their daily water needs, including drinking,
cooking and sanitation. Groundwater is typically
perceived as a safer alternative to surface water
due to its relative protection from surface
contamination(Shabbir, n.d.). However, the
increasing demands for water, coupled with
anthropogenic activities and inadequate
sanitation infrastructure have raised concerns
about the quality of groundwater sources in
Kaliganj.
This research paper aims to conduct a
comprehensive assessment of the drinking water
quality in this area. By analyzing various
physicochemical parameters and potential
contaminants, this study seeks to provide a
detailed understanding of the current state of
drinking water quality in the area. Additionally,
the research will explore potential sources of
contamination and their impact on human health.

• Physicochemical Parameter Measurement:
Measurement of Fe, Mn, As, Cl-, Electric
Conductivity, Hardness, TDS, pH, Color,
Turbidity, Temperature, TC and FC in
laboratory Analysis.
• Source Identification: Identifying potential
contamination sources, both natural and
human-related.
• Health Risk Evaluation: Assessment of
health risks from contaminant exposure
considering different consumption scenarios.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation:
Analyzation of data for patterns and
correlations aligning with water quality
standards.
WORKS DONE
• 8 journal papers have been reviewed and
summarized for literature review chapter.
• Sample collection points has been selected.
• Methodology of this research is planned.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this study are as follows:
• To analyze the potential health risks
associated with consuming water from
the studied sources
• To provide recommendations for
sustainable water management practices
