This is an example of a midterm project that would receive an A.

1) It's very easy to read. The measures are spaced evenly, there is a double bar, and there are rehearsal markings.
2) The traditional notation in the piano part is good, and there is rhythmic notation so that the anticipations (and a few comping rhythms)
are very clear.
3) I decided to just write out the entire bass part. I had enough specific ideas of what to do that it ended up being easiest.
4) All the parts have dynamics. Articulation makes the length of the quarter notes clear and accents are used for important anticipations.
5) The drum set part has a notated grove, kicks over time, stop time notation, and a drum fill.
6) I made decisions about ensemble hits, solos/fills, and the ending. All of this is in support of the melody.

This is a performance ready chart. Is this too much? Perhaps. But for the midterm project I'd rather you used too many graphic notation
techniques than too few.
