Innovations are very much needed in order to contribute to
the quality delivery of K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.
Innovations that support the integration and contextualization
of the curriculum as conveyed by RA No. 10533 are encouraged
to be conducted. The enclosed guidelines and tools aim to
provide guidance for those who are interested to conduct
innovative projects in their schools and offices. The division
recognizes innovations conducted in the form of instructional
materials, teaching strategies, simplification of work, income
generating projects, and innovation for school improvement.
Innovation in Education
Innovation is a process of making changes to
something established by introducing something new in the
educational programs, structure and system. It is correctly
planned, implemented and applied in order to have radical or
incremental changes to products, processes or services.
Innovation can be in the form of a new policy , syllabus,
method or organizational change which is intended to
improve teaching and learning, (Nisbet, 1974).
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)

1. Innovation on Curriculum/Instructional Material- This is

a result of a managed development process whose principal
products are often text-based teaching/learning material and
resources, that could be in the form of student learning
activities, workbook, skill book, resource book, teaching
devices, educational games, manipulative, and interactive
materials etc.
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)

2. Innovation on Teaching Strategy- This is a

process of systematically looking at effective
teaching strategy that is suited/appropriate to specific
learning content whose outcomes can be
measured in terms of increase in pupil achievement
level. It can be an approach, teaching techniques,
or method .
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)

3. Innovation on the Simplification of Work –This is

a process of creatively improving the
procedure and introducing new mechanism that
results in cost reduction, time saving and makes task
lighter and simpler. Introduced techniques can be a
reporting system, record keeping and other office
procedures.
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)

4. Income Generating Project – This is any collaborative

enterprise of students with the assistance of parents and
teacher-advisers. IGP is carefully planned to generate income
and achieve a particular aim or target, leading to a solution of a
perceived problem. It can be in the form of small business
conducted within the school on agriculture, livelihood,
technology, industry and services with applied
new approaches and with marketing done inside and outside
the school. It is not a GPTA, HRPTA , School project or other
agency initiated program.
Types of Innovative Projects- (Ref. DM No. 21, s. 2016)

5. Innovation on School Improvement – This is

done to improve programs, procedures and physical
aspect of schools that will enhance access, quality
and governance. This is not funded under
GPTA/HRPTA, DepEd, LGUs and other stakeholders/
partners in Education. Fund raising and other money
making contests are discouraged in the process

System
Republic Act No. 9155 known as Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001 provides among others
the strengthening of School-Based Management (SBM). By further devolving the governance of
education to schools, empowering school heads and non-teaching personnel in expanding community
participation and involvement and making the delivery of educational service to the learners more
responsive, efficient and effective through an enhanced school planning and improvement that lays
down specific interventions through initiated projects in schools.

A.Background/Context

►Write the background why this project is being

proposed. The School Improvement Plan and School
Report Card are important sources of information.

► Project must be highly relevant and directly related to

the priority school problems and needs identified in the
School Improvement Plan.
B. Issue/s Addressed
►This section briefly summarizes the situation within which the
problem/opportunity exists. Give the reasons why this project is
important to the improvement of the school.
► Cite specific causes or issues based on your characterization in
the School Monitoring, Evaluation and Adjustment (SMEA) and/or
results of the problem analysis in the Continuous Improvement
Process (CIP)
► Cite related issues or school concerns affected by the main issue
if ever there is a chain effect

Learning Beyond Limitations

►Lacking of Laboratory room for teachers and students

► Supporting the Classroom with Materials for Instruction
► Teacher and the Instructional Materials
►Facilities and Classroom Environment
► Direct Student involvement in the process skills
Project Objectives and Outputs
General Objectives
o What will this project contribute in achieving higher aims of the institution
(i.e., division, school, Community Learning Centers or CLCs)

Project PTL
Learning Beyond Limitations

Develop the most effective educational equipment/apparatus

for Grade 9 Science in Chemistry that could help and provide
the most efficient tools for learning
Project Objectives and Outputs
Specific Objectives
o What this Project seeks to achieve:
o Objectives must be specific, measurable, attainable, results-oriented and time-
bound (SMART). Objectives are to be achieved within the project timeframe.

Project PTL
Learning Beyond Limitations

Examine the impact of the readily available materials for Grade 9

Science and effective utilization such as basic laboratory apparatus and
materials on attitude and performance of learners towards Chemistry
and their sustain interest while offering the subject.

►School Administration

Curriculum planners and other Education researchers could use the Innovations to improve the
Learners Material of Grade 9 particularly in Chemistry.

► Teachers

Portable lab is an instrument that could be used by a classroom teacher in different kind of discipline
and as part of instructional material for students especially if laboratory room is not available.

► Students

By using the Portable lab, the students will be able to experience learning and teaching style apart from
the traditional memorization and lecture techniques. They will be able to develop independence in
learning and realize their own responsibilities for their own achievement.

By using portable lab, students would be responsible in handling laboratory apparatuses and be able to
manipulate it with a small group where collaboration is highly expected.
