An award-winning Spanish tapas restaurant will open its second Derby venue. Lorentes is
expanding to open a riverside restaurant in the Cotton Yard, at Darley Abbey Mills,
replacing the Cottonworks restaurant which has now closed its doors for good.
Located within the UNESCO World Heritage site, the new restaurant will welcome its first
customers at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon, February 8. It will run alongside Lorentes'
popular city centre restaurant in Friar Gate, which has earned rave reviews from customers
ever since first opening back in 2014.
Owned and operated by David Lorente, the restaurant ranks seventh out of nearly 400
Derby restaurants on TripAdvisor, and first for Catalan food. It serves authentic
Mediterranean cuisine of the like you would expect to find in Madrid and Barcelona.

A post on the Lorentes Facebook page confirmed the "really exciting news" about the
upcoming expansion. Part of it reads: "We are expanding! Which means, there will now be
two Lorentes in Derby. Our much-loved restaurant on Friar Gate and our new restaurant in
Darley Abbey Mills, which opens up this Wednesday.
"If you would like to book yourself in for some delicious tapas (and a cheeky jug of sangría
too), give us a call on 01332947490 or email us at: darleyabbey@lorentes.co.uk . We hope
to see you there soon amigos!"

Lorentes is taking up the unit formerly occupied by the Cotton Works bistro and café, which
closed its doors for the final time on Monday, February 6. A statement on the venue's
website thanked customers for their support during more than three years of trading.
It reads: "The Cottonworks Bistro is now closed as of Monday, February 6, 2023. From
Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Lorentes will be opening on the premises bringing authentic
Spanish tapas to Darley Abbey.

"You can find out more and book at table at over at Lorentes. From everyone at The
Cottonworks Bistro we would like to thank you for your custom over the last few years."
Before The Cotton Works opened in autumn 2019, the premises was occupied by another
café, called Platters at the Mill. The historic complex was sparsely occupied for a number of
years, but many buildings have been revamped to come back into use in recent years.

Lorentes, which serves authentic Spanish cuisine, is expanding to open a second Derby
restaurant at Darley Abbey Mills this week

The opening times for Lorentes Darley Abbey will be 4pm to 10pm Wednesday to Friday,
from midday to 10pm on Saturday and midday to 8pm on Sunday. The new restaurant will
be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
