REGENCY, EAST NUSA TENGGARA

• Prematurity is the first leading cause of neonatal mortality.

• Indonesia has the incidence of prematurity 35% and has a major role of
verview neonatal mortality.
• East Nusa Tenggara has high rate of neonatal death (26/1,000 live births)
compared to the national rate of 20/1,000 live births

• The purpose of this study is to acknowledge the most significant

risk factor that is associated with preterm births ntroduction
• The research population are all babies with risk factors who were referred to
Umbu Rara Meha General Hospital on November 2017 to April 2018.
• Research is an analytic study with case control design and retrospective
ethods studies of 60 samples.
• Research instrument used is Medical Record. Data were analyzed by chi-
square test for bivariate and logistic regression for multivariate.

• The results showed that there was a significant association between anemia
(p: 0,001; OR: 9.000; 95% CI: 2.239-36.171) and Pre-labor Rupture of Membrane
(p: 0,027; OR: 3.500; 95% CI: 1.112-11.017) of preterm birth.
• We continued to analyze both of risk factors with logistic regression showing
anemia was the only significant factor in this research (p=0,002; OR: 9.585 ; CI
95% 2.239 – 36.171).
• Preeclampsia, ANC under standard, Gestational Hypertension, Pulmonal esults
Tuberculosis, High risk age of pregnancy, and Gemelli showed no significant
relationship with the occurrence of premature labor.

Variables OR CI 95% p
Preeclampsia 0.444 0.100 – 1.974 0.236
ANC Understandard 0.875 0.318 – 2.410 0.500
Gestational Hypertension 0.310 0.030 – 3.168 0.306
Gemelli 2.154 0.363 – 12.764 0.335
Anemia 9.000 2.239 – 36.171 0.001
High Risk Age of Pregnancy 1.000 0.282 – 3.544 0.626
Pulmonal Tuberculosis 1.000 0.060 – 16.763 0.754
Prelabor Rupture of Membrane 3.500 1.112 – 11.017 0.027

• Anemia in pregnancy is the only risk factor on the incidence of preterm birth in
Umbu Rara Meha General Hospital.
onclusion • ANC during pregnancy is recommended due to anemia screening and its
interventions to prevent preterm birth and decrease neonatal mortality.
