“EDUCATING ONESELF ON SEX EDUCATION”

One of the main concern in our society is the debate about

incorporating sex education here in the Philippines.

Department of Education implemented the sex education

last 2018, DepEd Order #31, series of 2018. This issuance

is entitled, the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality

Education, was enacted pursuant to the provisions of the RP-RH Act of 2012. Despite of

the attempts on having the sex education in the Philippines many are not convince in

having this law, some have questions like is it really beneficial to teach Sex education

on high school students?

Knowing one's rights and upholding others' rights, safeguarding one's health, and

developing a healthy attitude toward relationships and sexuality are all part of sexuality

education. Sex education helps teenagers understand their biological makeup and get

ready for adult life. It also encourages both boys and girls to speak up when their

sexual boundaries are being transgressed.

Sex education might be a serious topic especially to teenagers, they might be

misguided in some ways if this law is not well explained, teenager might think that it is

perfectly fine to engage in such activity because even the higher ups in the society are

agreeing in giving contraceptives to decreased the number of teenage pregnancy.

Having sex education is not a bad idea but it can also have some negative effects,

teenagers have different understanding towards this topic, even though this law wants

to employ inclusivity in sexual health.

In order to have a smooth flow about this topic it is crucial to emphasize sex education

in junior high school so that everyone has access to the information they require about

sex and all of its associated topics. Educators should have proper training and they

should keep in mind to put this topic in an educational level where students can easily

understand the mean of this subject.

Sex is a wonderful thing, and children should learn about it from parents and instructors

rather than from the streets or, worse, from those who are just looking to take

advantage of them.

In conclusion it is alright to have sex education here in the Philippines because it gives

young people the knowledge and skills they need for a lifetime of good sexual health.

Sex education is not always about entering into matured acts but it also employs

healthy relationship and good decision making in the near future.
