Title: Is there a connection between cyberbullying and suicide?

Introduction

This report will present cyberbullying with all the consequences, different viewpoints on this
matter, and assistance in determining the answer to the question “Is there a connection
between cyberbullying and suicide?" It will include all the proof and the survivor's personal
experience of the victim.

Causes and consequences

Social media can play a big part in a teenager's life in the 21st century. As the pandemic begins
in 2021, everyone (mostly teenagers) begins using social media apps such as Discord, Twitter,
and others. Cyberbullying quickly enters the picture because we can't track down their true
identity. But the trauma is worse for those who are bullied. More than four times as many
participants had encountered cyberbullying as those who hadn't reported suicidal thoughts or
attempts. Some people survived, but some didn't.

Perspectives

The United Nations (UN) released the article "Cyberbullying and Its Implications for Human
Rights" as episode 4 of the Human Rights series. They discussed how the teen suicide death rate
has increased and how one in every five has a connection with cyberbullying. They also
mentioned how it can have a negative impact on a child's mental health and lead to suicide.

India has the most cyberbullying cases with a rate of 38%, whereas Greece has the lowest
cyberbullying with only 5%, according to the graph. In China, they have a law to protect minors
from abuse, which includes cyberbullying. According to a survey that they did in 2022, the
majority of underage kids on social media apps are most likely to be cyberbullied (79%).

On the other hand, we can see anti-cyberbullying ads on most websites, but in my country, it's
considered a trend, which is not good. I hope we can educate those people and change the
internet into a better place for the next generation.
Conclusion

In conclusion, we need to be careful when using social media apps to avoid cyberbullying.
Instead of criticizing young people for cyberbullying, we should start educating them.
And we can also see how it can badly damage a child 's mental health just by those texts. The
bullies might say those as a joke but for the people who got bullied the damage is real.

I chose this topic so that I could help raise awareness for cyberbullying. I hope there will be
more and more people who are willing to help pervert cyberbullying, especially in my country.
