This 10-minute lesson plan introduces students to the music software Musescore. The teacher will demonstrate how to browse Musescore to find musical scores and compositions. Students will then use Musescore to find and select a piece of music. The purpose is to showcase Musescore as a resource for finding public domain sheet music in different arrangements, as an alternative to music streaming services. At the end of the lesson, students will submit the piece of music they found through a survey question.

Activities Time Allowed
5 min for learning I will go through the basics of musescore, where to find and the difference between the program and the website 10 min for assessment. I will begin the activity for students to use musescore to find a piece of music.
We will host the discussion and try to answer
● Was the technology effectively used in attaining the
learning outcomes? ● Was the technology integrated effectively? ● What pre-class preparation must be done? ● What were possible technical issues and how could they be avoided? ● Are there any barriers to implementing the lesson technology? ● How else could the technology be integrated?
Rationale: The purpose of showcasing this technology is to show
people a place that they can find sheet music, in various different arrangements. The site also displays whether or not a piece of music is in the public domain.
The intention is not necessarily to get students to use the sheet
music provided or to create their own music but to provide people with an alternative to Youtube or Spotify when searching for music. Assessment: Students will submit the piece of music they found via the survey question.
