English test Niveau : 3 ème

PART ONE : READING AND COMPREHENSION(8 points)

Read the text below and do all the activities that followon your answer sheet.
MY VILLAGE OR THE CITY?
Ten days ago, my parents sent me here to my uncle for some family problems. I found the
city life so exciting. Everything is so nice here! The skyscrapers, the traffic lights, the tarred roads,
etc. It’s all mud and dust in the village. I wanted to stay. So I decided to visit some other parts.
But as soon as I got off the bus, someone bumped into me and stole my purse. I was shouting for
5 help when the police arrested me and here I am in this police station.
But now I’ve made up my mind to go back to the village. I have a big farm there. Many people
living in the countryside think that life is easy in the city. That, all you have to do is to bend down
and pick up money on the ground. I realize that is not true. Life is more complicated in the city
than in the countryside. In the village, we are all brothers and sisters. Although tilling the soil isn’t
10 a joke, I’d rather go back to my village.
