Fort Campbell’s Army Community Service (ACS) partners with Austin Peay State University for
a new program targeted towards local military families

CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee, December 18th, 2023: Today the Army Community Service and Austin
Peay are working together to establish a new program for military families to become
accustomed to, and transition into civilian life.
Austin Peay State University has expanded it’s relationship with Fort Campbell and the
surrounding military community for the past several decades. With the opening of the Newton
Military Family Resource Center, Austin Peay is looking to expand it’s outreach even further.
There is a lot of uncertainty when a soldier’s career is ending, and they look for new
opportunities in the civilian world. This is where our Partnership with Army Community Service
on Fort Campbell takes shape.
This new project will feature classes, and activities hosted by APSU’s many GreenZone faculty
members during the summer, and also members of the military community who have already
transitioned to civilian life. These classes will cover everything from working through the VA’s
various medical processes, applying for jobs through Linkedin, resume building, and USAjobs.
This new Program will also streamline the application process for degree seeking students as
well. These classes will be located on APSU campus, and the ACS center on Fort Campbell.
Austin Peay is looking forward to finalizing this project with Army Community Service, and
helping to transition soldiers into academics, or to the workforce. Austin Peay is proud to be an
important member of the Clarksville community, and are looking forward to seeing the impact
that this program will have on the surrounding area. The program is slated to be finalized by
Spring 2024 and commence the following summer.
