Social Science
(Apollo)
Chapter I
Introduction
Understanding religion helps us to understand other people and their
cultures. We, Grade 12 HUMSS Apollo, as part of the requirements for the
Culminating, have interviewed the practitioners or experts in Introduction of World
Religions and Belief Systems. Our group had a discussion with Pastor Mark
Anthony Aragon held at Mahogany Street, Brgy. Poblacion Banate, Iloilo. This
aims to spread and raise awareness among people who are not informed of others’
perspectives. Coordination, support, and connection among team members are
required to make things happen.
Planning

The group decided on the religion they would follow when they were in the
planning stage. They are searching for the right leader to represent their faith in
today's contemporary culture and try to find one immediately. With the assistance
of our culminating adviser, the members of our group collaborated in drafting the
questions that were going to be asked during the interview. In addition, the
members submitted a request for authorization to both the school's principal and
the headmaster of the relevant topic. They had complete control over the timing
and location of the interview, and they were shielded from any danger that may
have been there. In conclusion, but certainly not the least, we complied with the
request made by the topic adviser to interview the interviewee.
Organizing

The participants arranged everything to go smoothly before the appointed

interview during the organizing stage. The development of discussion questions,
the issue of an interview invitation letter, the sending of a permission letter to the
headteacher and the principal, and the participation of all members during the
interviewing process are all instances. Finally, you should thank the person you
interviewed with a modest presence at the end of the session.
Chapter II
Interview
1. What is the difference between being spiritual and religious?
- For us as Christian Baptists, we believe that being spiritual and religious
is different. Yes, you can be religious and not spiritual, but you can’t be
spiritual and not religious. Being religious does not base on spirituality.
2. Where did your religion come from in terms of origin?
- We believe as a Baptist; that the origin of our church comes from the
disciple’s time. As Ezrah said, “I will build my church.”
3. Is any one person’s life worth more than another? Why or why not?
- We don’t believe that any person’s life is much worthy of another. For
example, my life is more excellent than yours. We don’t think such
things; as said in the bible, a person’s life is equal.
4. Is the termination of a fetus violating the sanctity of human life?
- Yes, as a Baptist, we are prolife. We disagree on abortion.
5. What role does your religion give meaning to everyone’s life?
- Our role in society is to change people’s lives or invest in them to be
better community citizens.
6. What is a religion that makes it so important to people?
- This is very important because religion leads the people to God. Religion
means Re or legion makes you come back to God.
7. What is the standard for measuring destiny fulfillment?
- As a Baptist, we don’t believe in destiny but God’s Will. Once we fix our
lives on fate, the future takes over our life.
8. Can someone change their destiny? Let us say you have control over your
destiny?
- Same as the answer to question 7.
9. Why are women more religious than men?
- Men have more vices. And women are emotional. That’s why they are
mostly attached to God.
10.How does religion affect gender inequality?
- As a Baptist, we believe in gender equality, but as said in the bible, we
think that God calls men to lead.
Chapter III
Reflection
Sheyne Marie Enarsao
What I learned from pastor mark is that they do not believe in destiny
because we are the ones who make our future. Then they don't compare themselves
to others because they think that you have the ability and personality.
Kameelah Angel Rose Ballester
Our lives are critical. We have many purposes in our existence. We may
have different religions and beliefs, but only one God. Religions cannot save us,
but it’s our relationship with God. By giving importance to it, we must commit
ourselves to God.
Destiny Fuentes
I learned that there are still things we need to know, such as what Pastor, I
believe, wanted to tell us. We may have different races, religions, cultures,
customs, perspectives, and opinions, but all we must do is listen to know that we
have differences worth explaining and listening to.
Rincess Deb Badoya
I learned that each one of us has a different perspective on life. As what
Pastor said, “women are emotional” I disagree because women, in my viewpoint,
are primarily independent individuals in which they’re capable of giving birth.
Romelen Bacerra
As a Christian, I believe that God is real. In every word of pastor Mark
Anthony, I think it's based on the bible or the word of God. Every word of the
pastor must be listened to or one-hearted to feel the presence of God. As part of
JMCIM (or our religion), we seem to be the same as the religion of the interview;
we don't believe that your life or my life is more important because we're both
human beings and only believe in God. And I learned from pastor Mark Anthony is
you should never commit violence in your life (abortion) if you're not prepared.
