FIRST TERM EXAMINATION 2023-24

General Instructions:
(i) This question paper contains 38 questions. All questions are compulsory.
(ii) This question paper is divided into five Sections-A, B, C, D and E.
(iii) In Section A, Questions no. 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs)
and questions number 19 and 20 are Assertion-Reason based questions of 1
mark each.
(iv) In Section B, Questions no. 21 to 25 are very short answer (VSA) type
questions, carrying 2 marks each.
(v) In Section C, Questions no. 26 to 31 are short answer (SA) type questions,
carrying 3 marks each.
(vi)In Section D, Questions no. 32 to 35 are long answer (LA) type questions
carrying 5 marks each.
(vii)In Section E, Questions no. 36 to 38 are case study based questions carrying
l marks each. Internal choice is provided in 2 marks questions in each case-

23. Find the quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes are-

The sum of 4th and 8th term of an AP is 24 and the sum of 6th and 10th
term is 44. Find the first three terms of the AP.
25. If the system of linear equations 2x+3y=7 and 2ax+ (a+b) y=28 have
infinite number of solutions, then find the values of a and b

26. (a) Find by prime factorisation the LCM of the numbers 18180 and 7575.
Also, find the HCF of the two numbers.
OR
(b) Three bells ring at intervals of 6, 12 and 18 minutes. If all the three
bells ring at 6 a.m., when will they ring together again?
27. If Q (0, 1) is equidistant from P (5,-3) and R (x, 6), find the values of x.
28. Find the value of p for which the quadratic equation
p(x-4) (x-2) + (x-1)2=0 has real and equal roots.
29. Had Aarush scored 8 more marks in a Mathematics test, out of 35 marks,
7 times these marks would have been 4 less than square of his actual
marks. How many marks did he get in the test?
30. If the last term of an A.P. of 30 terms is 119 and the 8 th term from the end
(towards the first term) is 91, then find the common difference of the
A.P.Hence, find the sum of all the terms of the A.P.

31. Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 6x2-3-7x and verify the
relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients.

32. How many terms of the arithmetic progression 45, 39, 33, .·...... must be
taken so that their sum is 180? Explain the double answer.
33. A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 360 km. It
would have taken 48 minutes less to travel the same distance if its speed
was 5km/hr more. Find the original speed of the train.
OR
The sum of a two-digit number and the number obtained by reversing the
digits is 66. If the digits of the number differ by 2, find the number. How
many such numbers are there?
34. Solve the equations graphically: x+3y=6; 2x-3y=12.Find the co-ordinates
of the vertices of the triangular region formed by these lines and y-axis.
Also find it’s area.
35. Determine the ratio in which the line 2x+y-4=0 divides the line segment
joining the points A (2,-2) and B (3, 7).
OR
A sum of 700 is to be used to give seven cash prizes to students of a
school for their overall academic performance. If each prize is 20 less
than its preceding prize, find the value of each of the prizes.
SECTION E
36. The school auditorium was to be constructed to accommodate at least
1500 people. The chairs are to be placed in concentric circular
arrangement in such a way that each succeeding circular row has 10 seats
more than the previous one
i) If the first circular row has 30 seats, how many seats will be there in the
10th row?
ii)For 1500 seats in the auditorium, how many rows need to be there?
(OR)
If 1500 seats are to be arranged in the auditorium, how many seats are
still left to be put after
10th row?
iii). If there were 17 rows in the auditorium, how many seats will be there
in the middle row?
37. A park is designed in the form of circle as shown.

At the centre of circle there is fountain.The entry gate is shown at A.


Considering radius of the circle as 10 units, coordinates of fountain (O) of
the circle is(2a-1, 7) and of point A as (-3,-1).
i) If radius of circle is 10 units then find the possible value/values of a.ole
ii) Find the distance AB.
iii) If we consider point A lies on x-axis then what is the possible value of
x-Co-ordinate of A, take co-ordinate of O as (5,8)
OR
If we consider, point B lies on y-axis then what is the possible value of y-
coordinate of A, take co-ordinate of O as (6,7)
38. A very innovative teacher planned a prime number game. She announce
the number 2 in her class and asked the first student to multiply it by a
prime number and then pass it to second student. Second student also
multiplied it by a prime number and passed it to third student. In this way
by multiplying to a prime number the last student got 173250. He told
this number to teacher in class. Now she asked some questions to the
students as given below.
i. How many students are in the class?
ii. What is the highest prime number used by student?
iii. Which prime number has been used maximum times?

Which prime number has been used minimum times?
