Life In Yelp Sales: A Sneak Peek

What to expect

Yelp offers a progressive training program. You’ll start with two months of intensive
training followed by continuous on-the-job learning and development.

By the end of your second year, you’ll become an expert in Yelp sales and ready to
pursue opportunities in management, elite sales, or national sales!
Training

Your position on the sales team begins with a comprehensive training program that
will set you up for success!

You’ll be part of a training class that will work together alongside our expert sales
training team for the first two months of the program.

Week 1 is in the classroom. You’ll practice your skills through role plays and attend
presentations about sales techniques and the Yelp products you’ll be selling.

Week 2 is live! You’ll train on the phone talking to real business owners with
coaching from instructors and your manager.

For the rest of your two month training period, you’ll keep learning in a classroom
setting and sharpening your skills on the phones.

Your learning doesn’t stop with the end of your training period! Additional training,
feedback, and guidance are available to you throughout the entire program.

Compensation

Your first year is about building your skills and becoming a sales
expert with a complete knowledge of Yelp’s products.

Commission is a large factor in your compensation.


You’ll receive commission based on the total amount of
revenue you bring in each month.
Quotas

You’ll be making a lot of calls! Volume is a great way to meet and beat your quotas.

Quotas track your growth and progress. They’ll start off small, increase gradually, and
reset at the top of every month. Quotas are your friend—they’re there to motivate
and challenge you!

We place a strong emphasis on learning. In your first month, you won’t have a
quota at all. Over the next eight months your quota will ramp up gradually as you
grow more familiar with the product and build selling skills.

You can close the deals in your first call with a business owner — the cycle is fast!
Management

Your manager is highly invested in your career and in your progress. They’ve sold the
product, been where you are, and are trained to set you up for success.

The sales floor is dynamic and fast-paced. We celebrate wins, provide
