Joe Keery, the second of five siblings, was born on April 24, 1992 in the
Massachusetts town of Newburyport. His family provided a supportive
environment for his developing skills. Thomas R. Keery II and Laura Keery are
his parents.
Early on, he developed a strong passion for the performing arts which inspired
him to enroll in the Theater in the Open camp at Maudslay State Park. This
significant encounter confirmed his love of the stage. Under the pressure of his
older sister, he began performing in his high school years.
Keery’s love in the performing arts inspired him to enroll at The Theatre School
at DePaul University after attending River Valley Charter School and
Newburyport High School. He worked tirelessly to perfect his craft. In 2014 he
graduated with the knowledge and abilities that would eventually make him
famous.
In May 2017, He started dating kiteboarder and actress Maika Monroe. She
went with him to the Stranger Things 2 premiere.
Emergence in the Entertainment World
Keery’s rise in the entertainment industry began with his screen debut in the
USA Network’s comedy show “Sirens” in 2015. This marked the initial chapter
of a journey that would lead him to remarkable opportunities. He appeared in
commercials for brands like KFC and Domino’s and his talent was recognized in
shows like “Empire” and “Chicago Fire.”
He received his debut film role in the drama “Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party“,
released in 2015. He made an appearance in the horror thriller “The Charnel
House” the next year.
In Aaron Sorkin’s 2017 crime drama “Molly Game,” Keery had the opportunity
to work with Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Brian
d’Arcy James and Chris O’Dowd. Keery played the part of Cole who was
incredibly efficient.
