Title: The Lord's Assurance: Finding Peace in His Promises

Objective: To encourage adults to trust in the Lord's assurance and find peace in His promises, using
relevant Bible verses as a guide.

Introduction:

Begin by welcoming the congregation and thanking them for coming.

Open in prayer, asking for guidance and wisdom as you explore God's word together.

Lesson:

What is assurance?

Start by defining the concept of assurance. Ask the congregation what it means to be assured of
something, and how that can bring peace and confidence.

Use Psalm 46:1-3 as a reference: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

The Lord's assurance:

Read aloud relevant Bible verses that demonstrate the Lord's assurance, such as Isaiah 41:10, which says,
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help
you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Explain how these verses can bring comfort and assurance in our lives, especially during difficult times.

Trusting in the Lord:

Discuss how trusting in the Lord is essential for experiencing His assurance. Use Proverbs 3:5-6 as a
reference: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways
submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Explain how our own understanding can be limited, but when we trust in the Lord and submit to Him, He
can guide us in the right direction.

Experiencing the Lord's assurance:

Discuss practical ways in which we can experience the Lord's assurance, such as spending time in prayer
and reading the Bible regularly. Use Romans 15:4 as a reference: "For everything that was written in the
past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the
encouragement they provide we might have hope."
Encourage the congregation to prioritize these activities in their daily lives and to seek the Lord's
assurance in times of need.

Conclusion:

Summarize the main points of the lesson, emphasizing the importance of trusting in the Lord and finding
peace in His promises.

Close in prayer, asking God to help the congregation grow in their faith and trust in Him, and to
experience His assurance in their lives.

Optional Activity:

If time permits, you can end the sermon with a time of reflection or a call to action. Ask the congregation
to share ways in which they have experienced the Lord's assurance in their lives, and how that has
impacted their faith. You can also encourage them to continue seeking the Lord's assurance and to share
their experiences with others, so that they too may find peace in His promises.
