1. Indefinite articles( Mạo từ bất định) : A/ An

- Dùng “an” trước nguyên âm ( u, e, o, a, i) hoặc phụ âm “h” không đọc rõ
Ví dụ : an hour, an honest person….
- Dùng “a” trước danh từ/ tính từ bắt đầu bằng 1 phụ âm.
Vd : a book, a unit ……
A/ an thường dùng trong các trường hợp sau
+ Dùng trước danh từ ( số ít đếm được) chưa xác định / mới đề cập lần đầu.
+ với danh từ chỉ nghề nghiệp . Ví dụ : a doctor , an engineer
+ các từ chỉ số, số lượng. Ví dụ : a hundred, a million, a pair of shoes , a few, a little,.....
Không dùng a/ an trước danh từ không đếm được: Ví dụ : sugar, milk , information, water, ....
2. Definite Article ( Mạo từ xác định) : The
Có "The" Không "The"
o Dùng trước tên các đại dương, sông ngòi, biển, vịnh và o Trước tên một hồ
các hồ (ở số nhiều) Lake Geneva

o Trước tên những vật thể duy nhất trong vũ trụ hoặc trên o Trước tên các hành tinh hoặc các chòm sao

The earth, the moon o Trước tên các trường này nếu trước nó là một tên
o The schools, colleges, universities + of + danh từ riêng riêng
