CAMBRIDGE IGCSE™ CHEMISTRY: TEACHER’S RESOURCE

About the syllabus

The Cambridge IGCSE™ Chemistry syllabus (0620/0971) has been updated for examination from 2023.
The syllabus covers a wide range of topics, including not only the essential basics in this subject, but also an
introduction to chemistry of our environment and plastics. Our Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry resources are
designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging course that covers the requirements of the syllabus.
Practical work and the Scientific Method are an essential part of the study of chemistry and, as such, underpin
the course. Learners need to undertake all the core practical activities that are listed as learning outcomes in the
syllabus as a minimum, and are expected to undertake other practical activities in a range of contexts.
Teachers and learners should be aware of the sections towards the end of the syllabus that set out the apparatus
with which learners should be familiar, the mathematical skills they need to use, and the ways in which data
should be presented.

The information in this section is taken from the Cambridge International syllabus (0620/0971) for examination
from 2023. You should always refer to the appropriate syllabus document for the year of your examination to
confirm the details and for more information. The syllabus document is available on the Cambridge International
website www.cambridgeinternational.org.
