My new home
Carl lives in London, but he was born in New Zealand. He moved to England two years ago
when his father got a job there. Carl didn’t want to leave New Zealand. He had a lot of
friends there, the weather was nice and his house was near the sea. In summer he went to the
beach and was sailing a lot too.
He didn’t like England at first. The weather wasn’t nice and he didn’t have any friends. It was
cold, it rained a lot and the sea wasn’t near. Things got better when Carl started school. He
made a lot of new friends, he goes to the sports centre of school and plays football. He is in
his school’s team.

Sweet Sue got a letter. It was from Mr Salt’s son Jack. He had a party while his parents were
away and one of his friends broke the clock. He wanted to repair it, but his parents came back
earlier. He asks Sweet Sue to return the clock to his parents. Sweet Sue took the clock to
Smart Alec to see.
