the Great Smog in London. Queen Elizabeth is faithfully
portrayed as a reticent, dignified and brave ruler, whose
life is almost completely subordinated to the country and
the crown. Often reserved and respectful of the rules, she
stands in stark contrast to many of the other characters,
for example, Prince Philip (Matt Smith/Tobias Menzies) or
Princess Margaret (Vanessa Kirby/Helena Bonham Carter),
who are happy to bend the rules when circumstances
permit. The series is one of the most expensive shows
