Introduction

KN-5T Tibia Nailing System

The Tibia Interlocking Cannulated Nailing System is an isolated
system designed for the fixation of distal tibia fractures,
communited fractures of diaphysis tibia. This system works on
AO principle that helps in fracture reduction, blood preservation
and stable fixation. The tibial nailing system is a combination of
intramedullary cannulated nails, locking bolt, end cap,
compression screw. Tibial intramedullary cannulated nail favors
minimal invasive surgery.

KN-5T nailing system is anatomically contoured and reduces

pressure on soft-tissues. Dynamic compression locking
optimizes the fractured tibial segments and reshapes the bone in
its original form and provides good mechanical firmness.

Tibia Nail Design:

Interlocking cannulated tibial nail size is available from 8mm to
12 mm while length varies from 270 mm to 390 mm. Tibial nail
material is made of Titanium GRADE 5 and Stainless Steel 316
LRM with anodized surfaces that increases the fatigue length.
This nail design permits the surgeon to stabilize the multi-
fragment fractures with static, dynamic, dynamic with
compression or reconstructive method.

End cap size is available in 0 mm and helps in reducing soft-

tissues irritation and provides optimum stabilization.

Locking Methods

Static Method

Static Method:
Static locking is being done in multi-fragmented
fractures and optimizes bone fragments mis-
alignment. This locking is done with a locking bolt
and compression screw for stable fixation either for
two proximal or distal holes.

Dynamic Method

Dynamic Method:
This method is done for good cortical bone fragment
contact between the nail and bone in transverse,
open, closed and oblique fractures. This requires
axial mobility of bone fragments during surgical
treatment.

Locking Methods

Dynamic Method with Compression

Dynamic Method with Compression:

In this, a compression screw is axially inserted to put
pressure on the locking nail and prevents micro-
environments during intra-operative treatment.

Reconstruction Method

Reconstruction Method:
Reconstruction threaded holes in the cannulated
nail in proximal region allows stable tibial condylar
fixation. Optimal locking is being achieved by locking
bolt of 4.5 mm.
