1.0 Introduction
1.1 Welcome
Welcome to the 15th FAI World Advanced Aerobatic Championship. We are delighted to host this event October 24 –
November 3, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The contest will be held at the Jean Airport [0L7] 20 minutes south of Las Vegas.
The contest headquarters hotel is the South Point Casino and Hotel. Registration and entry fees are covered in the event
website, www.wac2023.com. Please use the website to register, pay, and see the competitor lists. See Appendix C & D for
Rules and Entry Form

1.2 Schedule
The official contest summary schedule is shown in Figure 4. Teams and entrants may arrive ahead of the contest
and use the airfield at their own risk. The event FAA waiver has been issued and is copied in Attachment 1. The
waiver allows use of the airspace from October 7 – November 3rd, 2023. You will need to coordinate with the
contest director prior to flying under this waiver. Failure to do so will result in cancelation of your entry into the
event.
3.0 Hospitality
3.1 Hotels
The contest headquarters outside the airfield at Jean is the South Point Casino and Hotel. The contest hotel
is reserved for 11 nights as part of the entry fee.
Any requirement for reservations outside of the dates noted above need to be arranged by private
arrangements at the lodging of your choice. Las Vegas is big, but is very busy in October. You are
encouraged to make your accommodation arrangements sooner than later. Please be advised that the
contest has no special rates for dates before or after the contest. You are encouraged to use typical Internet
based reservation websites.

The Closing Ceremony, Awards, Silent Auction will be organized at a venue to be determined on the Las Vegas Strip.
3.4 Snacks Jean Airport Snacks and Beverages – Entrants & Contest Officials
The WAAC 2023 team shall maintain a ready supply of refreshments to in the hospitality tents and
judges’ line as appropriate to the contest weather. This will include a range of cold drinks and
water plus a range of light snacks.
Each contestant, official, and judge member will receive their own personalize 18 oz. / 0.5ml water
bottle upon arrival. Water will be replenished into portable 5 gallon/20-liter water coolers at the
ramp and at the judge’s ine Your ater ott e is our ke to h dration Please bring it with you
each day to minimize the use of plastic bottles and reduce rubbish. We will provide Gatorade to
mix with the water. Please consider organizing your own favorite powder to mix with water at the
event. Each morning the WAAC 2023 team will replenish the coolers and snack bins in each
hospitality tent. 5-gallon water bottles will be purchased and stored in the CD tent.
3.5 Ceremonies
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony will be held on the Jean Airfield at 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2023. See Section
5.3 of the CIVA Guide to Aerobatic Championship Organization
Closing Ceremony
The closing Ceremony and award banquet will be in the Las Vegas strip at a location TBD. See Section 5.4 of
the CIVA Guide to Aerobatic Championship Organization
We will have numerous volunteers at the contest and will assist in other transportation to and from the
airfield as required.
At the end of the flying day, the busses will transport the FAI Officials from Jean Airport back to the hotel.

Note that there is paved road access to the west boundary of the center box for excellent viewing for more interested
spectators and contestants.

6.3 CD Tent
One tent will be dedi ated to the CD’s station This i e she tered on four sides Work spa es as i ustrates
will be provided. There will be a central conference table for meetings. The clipboard and radio charging station
will be located in the CD tent as illustrated. A welcoming, carpeted outdoor veranda will be provide for all team
members and their guests
The Contest Dire tor’s station be located on one portion of the hospitality tents located on the ramp. The CD RV
will be parked conveniently close to the selected hospitality tent. The CD station is the contest head quarter.
There shall be adequate power tables and work space with appropriate shelter provide by a three-sided tent. All
CIVA officials are welcome at the CD station. It is expected that the MD, CD, Chief Judge and CIVA president will
have permanent positions assigned in the CD station.
Portable Sound System for contest announcements etc. will be avaible at the CD tent and for use in the Utility
Tent as required for briefings.

provided for the utility tent and the CD tent. Small generators will be located between a pair of tents. The 50’
power cord will run from the generator to the tent. Inside the tent there will e a 2 ’ po er ord The po er ord
will be connected to a six out let power strip.
6.5 RV
The WAAC 2023 will have one RV available for use by contest officials. Access will be limited to the EOT and FAI
officials. The RV will provide private space for conversations, protection form the elements in case of in climate
weather, storage for valuable items. The RV can be used for private discussions, jury protests, and video reviews
after flying.

(8) judges. The Chief Judge, their assistant and support personnel will provide two portable shade canopies.
At the Chief Judge Station
• One sturdy table sized for three people sitting side by side.

• A omprehensi e o of ‘Offi e Supp ies’ - stapler, paperclips, rubber bands adhesive tape, Post It Notes,
sufficient clip boards, box files and ballpoint pens for the appointed number of judges.
• Thought must be given to handling the paperwork, its storage, collection (runner) and distribution, bearing in
mind the possibility of windy conditions.
• Two quality reclining sun lounger type chairs and one semi upright adjustable chair on the basis of three persons
in each judging team
• Coolers for cold drinks etc.
The ground will be suitable addressed prior to the contest for comfortable judging chairs. A ‘pad’ of earth i
also be prepared to accommodate a tripod for the contest videographer at each judge station.

internet feed from the existing WIFI available at the public building. One printer, scanner and copier will be
provided at The CD station for contest work. A second printer will be stationed in one of the hospitably tents that
is useable for all contestants.

fourth flight, each contestant will be credited the average fuel used for all competitors for the refueling for departure.
Fuel amounts after the average credit will be responsibility of the contestant.

Glider operations typically occur off field in the desert. The major activity is the daily outbound launch and return.
The Air Boss will be in contact with glider tow planes as required to advise when the box ix hot. When the box is hot
landings are anticipated to be allowed as the runway and traffic to the runway will not interfere with active box
operations

For each Program (2 to 4), the initial sequence of flights within each section will be subject to a drawing of lots
under the same procedure as in Program 1. The sequence of flights for each Program (2 to 4) may then be
adjusted by the International Jury as for Program 1 (3.2.1.3), considering the whole sequence and aircraft usage.
The CD will ensure that the first two flights of each competition day and each program, will be by Warm-Up
pilots. The Contest Director, with the concurrence of the Chief Judge, may delete the second Warm-Up flight

10.4 Runners

Judge. The WAAC 2023 will use a wireless real time scoring system to send scores into the scoring tent as they
are completed. This will be done using an IPad and scoring sheet stand.
11.0 Signage
Contestants will have to find their own way from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airfield. At the airfield
we will have signs for all ramps and judging stations. The CD will make sure that each contestant receives their welcome
package and
13.0 Security
The CD has been in touch with local law enforcement officials (See Section 6.7) to make sure they are aware of the
event. The airport is surrounded by fences per FAA guidelines as it is a public facility. An RV will be on the ramp at
all times and occupied overnight. Arrangements are being evaluated for an additional security presence during the
hours of darkness.
14.0 Video
The video operator records every flight from initial entry into the performance zone to the final wing
rocks with a stabilized, well exposed and correctly focused image. The CJ will advise the video operator
whether recording of Warm-Up flights is required in addition to all of the competition flights.

REGULATIONS
C.1 Rules The 15th FAI WORLD ADVANCED AEROBATIC CHAMPIONSHIP will be organized in accordance with FAI Sporting
Code – General Section of FAI Sporting Code – Section 6, Part 1 of Flight Rules published by the Civil Aviation Authorities of
Poland o Local Regulations
C.2 Judges. The event plans on a chief judge, eight line judges, and no boundary judging due to the desert terrain. ( FAI
Sporting Code – Section 6, Part 1 Chapter 4, para 4.2.1.3.) 3.
C.3 Language The official language of the 15 th FAI WORLD ADVANCED AEROBATIC CHAMPIONSHIP is English. The language
of all communications and briefings is English.
C.4.1 Participants All FAI member NACs may be represented at the WAAC 2023 by the team and/or an individual
competitor/observer.
C.4.1.2 Entries Entries will be accepted from National Aero Clubs only (according to FAI Sporting Code, Section 6 Part
1)
C.4.1.3 Other Other non-NAC entries will be accepted according to FAI Sporting Code, Section 6 Part 1.
C.5.1 All participating aircraft must satisfy the performance criteria essential for competition flights in the
advanced aerobatic category and show appropriate document to demonstrate current

and agree to release, indemnify, and hold the WAAC2023, contest officials and sponsors, airport owners and operators and any agents
thereof harmless from any and all damages or liability whether caused by or incurred by the undersigned as a result of their negligence,
acts or omissions during participation in this contest;
7. That the contest director, with concurrence from FAI Jury may at any time and for any reason terminate participation of the owner,
pilot, or aircraft in this contest, and neither the CD nor the FAI shall incur any liability or further duty to the undersigned as a result
thereof.
8. The WAAC2033.COM Organizer as well as its chapters, officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors and servants (all hereinafter
referred to as “WAAC202 ”) are in o ed in varying degrees with the presentation of this contest. The WAAC2023, HOWEVER, HAS
